Hm. Pissing friends or family off with crappy jokes.

A: Wipes his arse.

I feel this thread no longer deserves a post by me, it is merely an
exercise in verbal diarrhea.

Wow Merry, I'm sorry you didn't get the joke.

Sense of humour: an individuals own take on humour. If you will, their
'Sense' of humour.
It actually wasn't the statement itself that was the joke, it was the fact
that the statement was made.
Irony:
1
a The use of words to express something different from and often opposite
to their literal meaning.
b An expression or utterance marked by a deliberate contrast between
apparent and intended meaning.
c A literary style employing such contrasts for humorous or rhetorical
effect.

I see one of the main problems with online postings is text cannot
adequately carry the vocal inflections that can shape a word's connotative
meaning, thus misunderstandings arise.
But still, I think Abbadon is merely purposefully provoking, and wasn't
obviously humorous in his postings on this thread.
Now, someone smart-alecky make a crack about subtle minds and the
less-than-obvious.

doesn't really need doing.
your point is absolutely correct though, its one that i have made in the
past and was simply shat on. apparently the main problem with online
posting is actually that i am bitchy, an accusation that i took to heart
and have tried hard to live up to.

I was browsing the forums here, and my boyfriend asked what I was doing - I
told him I was indulging my guilty pleasures... and then actually noticed
the forum title.

WormWood: my point remains... it wasn't funny, not his statement, not that
it was made... I caught the irony of it... I am erisian, I love the
contradiction... but when an animal does something funny... over and over
and over and over... eventually, the act and any other act just ends up
being annoying... Especially when it is contrived and trite...
RedQueen... you see my point...

pleasure for everybody? I love coming home at the end of a long day (like
now) and having smashing, great, wizard, top-notch arguments with people on
the other side of the world from the comfort of your own chair.
Happy festive season everybody.
