i, personally, make it a point to never do anything that I would regret,
and as such... I have no guilty pleasures...

Alright, guilty pleasures.. hmm..
I love collecting pop tabs, and those granulated peanuts you get in
McDonalds for your sundaes.
I have 3 Backstreet Boy cd's, and on occassion I sit and sing at the top of
my lungs.
I watch Real TV to see people get hurt doing things I would never do, ust
so I can say "Ha, what an idiot."
... I still let my mom make my lunch for school.

Hmm. At what point does something become a "guilty pleasure?" I suppose a
guilty pleasure would be something that is done for pleasure but that goes
against one's personal conviction. This said, why do we as individuals
continue to participate in "guilty pleasures?"
As Feralucce so eloquently put it:
"i, personally, make it a point to never do anything that I would regret,
and as such... I have no guilty pleasures..."
So, again why do thinking humans do things that they think are wrong, but
yet know will give them pleasure, so when they have gone against their
instincts then they feel guilt for their pleasure? Does this show what
Aristotle would call "incontinence" referring to a person's "weekness of
will?
What do you think?

I think that most often, "guilty" pleasures rarely go against a person's
true convictions. Usually, they go against someone else's convictions that
the "guilty" person has somehow got caught up in. I think that, usually,
if the "guilty" one searches what they really think, and what is really
important to them, that they will stop feeling so guilty. I think it has
less to do with incontinence than it has to do with a lack of personal
identity and confidence.
For example, the person who binges on icecream, but feels badly about it,
is often more concerned with someone else's opinion of them than their own
convictions about health and weight. Only when they manage to throw aside
their bondage to the way the world views them, can they come to terms with
what they really want for themselves when it comes to binging.

Personally I’ve always thought guilty pleasures as something you do that
you don’t like admitting to people, but all that can work as well.

Exactly, Pale-Face. And why do people not like to admit their pleasures to
others? Because they're afraid of being judged by others - being found
guilty. This of course is something different than those things that you
keep hidden from others because they're just too special. These, however,
would not be guilty pleasures, but private pleasures, and the difference is
that there is no feeling of shame involved, but rather reverence. But as
soon as the shame kicks in, you're dealing with a guilty pleasure, and it's
a sad thing to see.

Christ, don't take things so seriously. It's bad for your skin.
OH everyone has regrets, I have regrets, i also have guilt, but no guilty
pleasures. Pleasure is only guilty to those who feel they aren't entitled
to it, or go against a moral/religious belief (and in the major religions
pleasure other than what they tell you is pleasure is a sin sin LAWDY a
sinful bit of trifle). Hell, smoking expensive cigarettes in a hot bath
could be a guilty pleasure, and only if it makes you feel guilty
afterwards, but then if it makes you feel bad it wouldn't be pleasure to
begin with it'd be masochism, and masochists are boooring.
and pale face, there are people who regret nothing they do, just take it as
a fact of life that things went the way they did even if it's not how they
planned it or something happened they didn't intend. I'm half and half, I
wish, ere I regret, things I've done that have had undesireable outcomes,
but I don't eat myself over them and don't really register as regret, only
past shit. I "regret" the times my temper overruled my higher thinking,
but take it as a part of my personality and just move on. But back to
guilty pleasures, I have none, because nothing I do that is enjoyable to me
causes guilt.

everyone regrets something. weather regret be the right word or not. the
only difference between those who don’t have regret and those who do is
that those who don’t could just care less. sure they feel guilty or bad
about it, but they more or less forgot about the incidents all together.
