REpost!: If you are 18-26...you're fucked! repost or pass on please.
Body: Mandatory draft for boys and girls (ages 18-26) starting June 15,
2005, is something that everyone should know about. This literally effects
everyone since we all have or know children that will have to go if this
bill passes.
There is pending legislation in the house and senate (companion bills: S89
and HR 163) which will time the program's initiation so the draft can begin
as early as spring, 2005, just after the 2004 presidential election. The
administration is
quietly trying to get these bills passed now, while the public's attention
is on the elections, so our action on this is needed immediately. Details
and links follow. This plan, among other things, eliminates higher
education as a shelter and includes women in the draft. Also, crossing into
Canada has already been made very difficult.
Actions:
Please send this on to all the parents and teachers you know, and all the
aunts and uncles, grandparents, godparents. . . And let your children know
- - it's their future, and they can be a powerful voice for change!
This legislation is called HR 163 and can be found in detail at this
website:
http://thomas.loc.gov/

this was posted through livejournals and i wanted to share this with you
guys.. what are your opinions? do you find this to be fucked up? i
certainly do...
I mean, quietly passing this while people are paying attention to the
elections.. how messed up is that? sneaky??? why yes. that would be our
goverment..

They have been trying to pass a mandatory draft bill for years. Just a few
politicians being assholes. I certainly hope it isn't passed. I'd rather
get the shit kicked out of me than join. Screw you guys, I'm going home. ____________________ "People always say what we are looking for is a meaning for life…I don't

That is horrible. It is so incredibly wrong for our government to try to
sneak a bill past us that would so deeply affect so many people. I know
it's nothing new, but I still feel betrayed. Someone should post a link
where people can find the information to write to their congressmen and
protest. If I can find something, I'll post it.
I don't usually get involved in politics, because I find the whole kit and
caboodle sickening, Democrat, Republican, and all. But this is something
that even Schizo is pissed enough about to fight for. I'm going to try to
spread the word at work. No one there has any idea that this is going
down.

I'm sorry, Mandatory Service Bill. My mind was in the right place but it
surely didn't type the right thing. If this passes and I am in Hawaii,
since it has been declared seperate from the US can I declare myself a
citizen of Hawaii? ____________________ "People always say what we are looking for is a meaning for life…I don't

Yeah, and it also says that the President gets to decide what is
acceptable, and who gets the non-military service. Scarey... ____________________ "You can tell by the scars on my arms and the cracks in my hips and the

I don't know for sure if it's true or not...but i heard somewhere that you
can get out of service by declaring yourself a conscientious objector....is
that true??
Oh yeah. I was trying to convince someone to vote but i really couldn't
come up with a good reason why someone should vote. Can you guys help me
out? ____________________ "It is a fool's prerogative to utter truths that no one else will speak." ~

Zero the threat of draft, or death dose not really work with today's
voters. Instead tell them they will never get to go online again. Just
remind them of when the Vietnam vets returned home.
Also has anyone else thought of running to the happiest place on earth
Tijuana, Mexico if Canada fails? ____________________ co-worker: "Your gay!?"

I had thought of Cancun. Hide out there for a few years and get as Mexican
food as I can stand. Luckily in traditional mexican food dairy was not
used so much. Most of the cows were originally just used for breeding and
for beef. They didn't have enough for dairy purposes. I'd also happily
move to Australia or New Zealand. Yummy girls with nice accents. ____________________ "People always say what we are looking for is a meaning for life…I

Personally, I think if there is a draft, then it SHOULD be across the
board, men and women alike. But MANDATORY service? Excuse me, I'll be
brushing up on my spanish.. ____________________ Trapped in time. Surrounded by evil. Low on gas. |

I am so wholly glad I'm not in the USA right now, sucks to be you guys.
Come and hop
over the ocean. Blair's pathetic, but I don't think we have mandatory
service legislation. Yet. ____________________ Do not fear death so much, but rather the inadequate life. |

I was thinking about England the other day. How are the laws and how is
Blair? That might just be an easier escape, unless they somehow are
blindsided by Bush's stupidity and send back service dodgers. ____________________ "People always say what we are looking for is a meaning for life…I

if anyone else is), then there are several websites that can point you in
