(I know that that's a reference to a Britney Spears song, but they're
equally annoying in my book.)
Anyway, Jenny from the Block (Tejano multi-millionaire
singer/dancer/actress/designer/perfume hawker) has married again. This
time the victim is Marc Anthony (Latin sometime actor/singer), He
obtained a quickie divorce from his wife of over 3 years, a former Miss
Universe, to get hitched to the triple layer hocake.
London bookies are already offering 3-1 odds that the sappy couple will be
divorced by the end of the year. Heck, they're already laying odds that
she'll be with Ben Affleck (multimillionarie hack actor from US) again by
then. Bookies are even taking bets as to how many times JLo will be
married in her lifetime.
Personally, I think J. Lo has zero self-respect. She's making money hand
over fist with her crappy music and even worse acting (does anyone remember
back when she COULD act?), not to mention that bug spray that she passes
off as perfume. Why does she feel the need to be married all of the time?
No man (or woman) can give her what she is really craving. Every time she
jumps the gun and marries another guy who can't give her what she wants,
she pushes herself further and further away from reaching her goal.
Anyway, who wants to lay odds that Jennifer Lopez will never have
self-respect or be able to truly be alone? What are the odds that she'll
take a good 20 years before she'll learn to enjoy being self-sufficient?

Um... who are these people? And why would I care about their drama? I was
thinking they were people you work with until you mentioned the bookies.
Then I assumed they must be people from TV, but I could be wrong since I
haven't watched TV in about 10 years.
I'd say the rule about talking about people we don't know applies here.
Those members who don't watch TV or don't live in the US don't know these
people and don't care about their lives any more than these people care
about ours.
Maybe someday I'll make a pretend.shmeng.com but until then I'd rather have
everything on this site be real.

I'm sorry, Devin. I thougth the clarification bit applied to articles, not
so much forum posts. But, for the sake of clarification, I did tweak the
descriptions a bit.
Anyway, since I don't watch TV and kind of live in my own little world when
it comes to music, I only find out about this stuff from newsgroups. My
digust is aimed more at the situation itself than it is at the fact that
she's famous and he's famous. She's just gotten her heart broke by famous
guy #3, and she's already charged down the aisle with guy #4 without even
thinking about the consequences.
What really upsets me is the fact that she is so uncomfortable being alone.
Her track record is so bad with relationships that people are betting on
when her latest relationship will end. If people were doing stuff like
that whenever I got into a new relationship, it would definitely make me
step back and think a bit before plunging headfirst into another.
And yes, it is sad and pathetic that I actually got upset enough about her
lack of self-respect to post something. It's right up there with my
disgust over Britney Spears getting a star on the walk of fame for songs
that degrade women and make them seem like simpering hobags who want to be
treated badly by whatever random male they happen to "love."

I guess I still don't understand what makes her special enough to talk
about. I know hundreds of girls with low self esteem. And there's
millions that I don't know. Wouldn't it be more relivant to talk about
someone who's life we might be able to make a difference in? Or maybe you
could have started a forum about serial monogamy and used this as an
example? That might have been interesting.
I usually try to stay out of the forums - but it's mostly because of this
kind of innane conversation that happens here. If I don't start pointing
these things out, nobody will. Callei won't even read forum posts anymore
because of it. ____________________

i have a friend with the same problem. she gets extremely depressed after a
while when she does not have a boyfriend. sadly, she also cannot stand any
one guy for more than two or three months. since she i have known her all
her "serious" relationships have ended badly and after every one of them
she hates guys and the one she just dumped "turned out to be such an
asshole." i heard from my mom that a lot of the time children tend to date
and marry people with similar characteristics to their parent of whichevery
sex they choose to marry. therefore all of my friends boyfriends being
assholes would be rectified because her dad is a real asshole (this is no
doubt true because just recently he kicked her out of his house because her
plan was to move in with her mom once the school year was over, not to
mention countless other times he has proved to not listen and not care).
but i often talk with the latest one she broke up with and from my point of
view he isnt really all that bad. from knowing her for quite a while it
seems like if anyone is bad at relationships it is my friend just because
of the way she is and the way she treats people in general... it is really
rather amazing though how dependant some people can be even in all the
independance they seem to have...

Actually, it's completely apropos. Buttmice are more talented and treat
their handlers better.

I really didn't want to reply to to this thread but I say this quote on
another site and it was just too good so I had to post it here:
