Okay, when I was in the Borrder's Bookstore in the Brea Mall, I found a
book that covered half of the Religion book shelf: George Bush And His
Faith. When I saw that, I asked myself, "So where's the Dalai Lama books?
What about the Qumran translations that used to be there?"
Well, seems they moved those books to the bottom most shelf of the New Age
section. Isn't the Dalai Lama a religious figure, as well...not to mention
someone who doesn't pray in half of his speeches and explains things in a
universal way? *sigh* I'm not picking at it because Bush is a President
that doesn't impress me, I'm picking at it for the sheer fact that a
Californian Bookstore, over all, places the Dalai Lama books under a man
who is only known for preaching his religion, rather than practicing it.
I suppose if I pointed that out to the person who came with the idea of
placing Bush above the Dalai Lama, I would be committing sedition in their
eyes. :p
Maybe it's just me, I just see them placing a one-termed so-called
Christian President over the Muslim faith and a wise Tibetian Buddhist when
they shift all the other Religion books into the New Age just to make room
for "George Bush and His Faith."

I hate to burst your bubble, but it's just because the book with the
current president's name on it will sell more so the book store's marketing
division (Borders no longer has owners, they are a corporate entity, so you
can bet that their religious section looks the same the world over) has
decided to place the product in a high visibility area so that it is easier
for the buying public to find. In terms of the Dalai Lama book, people who
are not sheep led by the New York Times best sellers list or the republican
party will use their brains and continue to look at the rest of the
bookshelf even after they see that the eye-level prime market real estate
shelf has been filled with the newest piece of nationalist tripe.

Hmm, good point. I just get sick of the fundamentalists acting like he's
some sort of prophet that came to save us...and find it redundant that he
makes himself out to be sent by God almighty. It scares me when a
bookstore covers the Religion section with such a book.
*shrugs and starts searching the New Age section*
What really oogles me, though, is the fact that California, a state
controlled by the Democrats (Governator excluded), would allow such a book
to dominate a section of the store. *snickers* However, as you pointed
out, Borrders is a corporate entity.

You could look at it like this: Let his sheep be led. Then maybe he'll lead
them all right off a cliff. Maybe the book will facilitate such an action.
I can only hope though.

Anya, if you would try reading, you would know that California's House and
the Senate are donminated by Republicans. Yes, it is a "liberal" state,
however in my opinion it has one of the most conservative governments only
surpassed by Florida and Texas.

Democrats? So what? Democrats are just as corrupt if not more than
Republicans. The two best examples are probably Chicago and Mass: The
Daleys and the Kennedys (plus Kerry).
I share yor contempt though. Someone was telling mee that what's his face
from the 700 club declared Bush the Second Coming (just as he declared
Clinton the anticrhist). I'm beginning to wonder if he actually believes
that he's carrying-out "God's Will?"

don't get me started on the 700 club...blah
that guy has ruined the faith of many.... I remember i was watching it..and
part of it was about one mans "triumph" over homosexuality....it was so
stupid....and all that crap about Bush as the "second coming"...wouldn't
you think that if that were true...his speeches wouldn't suk so bad?

Oh I know that the Governator and his lackies are there, but for the most
part, the majority of the politicans are very liberal. The two Senators,
Diane Feinstein and Barbara Boxer, aren't really that conservative.
Feinstein is a bit moderate and Boxer is VERY liberal. Am I missing
something here?
Anyway, I just don't get how one President and his faith makes him worthy
of covering a really broad section such as the Religion section.
700 Club mentioning Bush as the Second Coming? Oh brother, don't get me
started on that either. The 700 Club can be irritating, but if you're like
me and like turning the tables, they're amusing. All I'll say there.
President Bush though...that guy made my stepdad, who is more right-winged
than me, change parties...something not done in over twenty years. Now he
is the big topic of the Religion section of the Borrders Bookstore in the
Brea Mall.

boxer votes republican so much she has been a key note speaker at
republican meetings. Diane is firmly rooted (or is that rotted) in 50's
political agendas. she is liberal compared to say Rush limbah (sp?), but
far to the right when it comes to todays politics.
California is a very conservative state with a few seriously hot beds of
liberalism, and political activism (as compared to religios activism)

Ok, one quick quote:
"Q: What’s the difference between democrats and republicans?
A: Democrats blow and republicans suck!" -Lewis Black
Bush the second coming? I want to see some damn burning bushes (pun?),
winged ethereal beings, and hear a loud booming voice speaking in old
English too.
Bush has single handedly rekindled the crusades. In his stance against
abortions, homosexuality, alienating almost every religion, and trying to
reintroduce the Christian religion back into public schools; has succinctly
indorsed right wing nut jobs. Bush has given them this false sense that
what they say is right, and anyone else is wrong. Why do they think that?
Because they have Bush to back them up.
My words to Mr. W :
Faith may be able to move mountains, but it can also blind. Hence the term
“blind faith.”

Well, if Bush had a Second Coming, he'd have more than just a set of
twins...*evil grin*
Sorry...that was off topic...but, with all of the Second coming stuff
flying around, I couldn't resist being juvenile.
Anyway, Bush has not shown himself to be a man of any faith. Jesus said,
"Go ye therefore and teach all nations," not "go ye therefore and send a
bunch of meat shields over to a foreign country to get their heads blown
off just to take their focus ff of what a worthless leader you've turend
out to be."
The really sad thing is that Kerry sucks too.
Can we all just do write-in votes for someone with at least half a brain
who doesn't shove his religion in everyone else's face and expects them to
applaud? *pants*

Bush the second coming? BULL FUCKING SHIT!!!! how can a man who promoted
war be the second coming, what just because he wears his faith to hide his
love for war, means he deserves to be comapred to Jesus? that is juts an
insult to everything Jesus went through!
sorry, but i am a peace loving gall, and bush ticks me off.

Well, the second coming is supposed to be wrought in war and conflict, but
I personally always thought it would be a cool war...not a crappy fight in
a sandbox with the catpoop.
Bush is such a fuckin' weenie...actually, they all are. Fuck da' man.

I was accidentally in the same town as Bush today. I didn't expect him to
come to such tiny little towns, but apparently so. For some odd reason the
McDonald's burnt down during his visit. I don't get the connection, but
maybe it's in the George Bush and His Faith book. All I know is there were
some nasty feelings in that town today, but I would have stayed out if I
didn't have to go there to pay a few bills.

I just want to know why the hell he isn't in the same padded room and
thorozine drip as the REST of the wacks that repeatedly say "god told me
to". Or who in times of severe crisis lock themselves away to "talk to
god".

Kerry does in fact suck. I even heard recently he is or was a member of the
"skull and Bones". But honestly I'd rather have a member of a mysterious
and elite gentlemen's cult than a member or the Hooked on Phonics alumni.
The lesser of two evils, or the evil of two lessers, as Moore would say. I
just got my voters card, and regardless of Kerry's performance, you know
where my vote will be. Then again, I do like the idea or sending men and
women to be slaughtered.....I dunno, I'll get back to you on that issue.
Everybody know that even in times of war, manitaining and increasing
diplomatic relationships with countries is extremely important. When we
yanked diplomacy from mexico, we got the mexican war, and hosing Britain on
treaty agreements and then cutting our ties with them gave us a few decades
of Britain funded indian attacks. Etc, etc, etc. No need for history horse
poo, but this man has detroyed, sullied, torn to shreds, or pointlessy cut
relations with more countries than we can imagine. Bush has never
criticized Rush Limbau for saying that the Pictures of prisoner torture
were "good old america porno-Americans letting off steam-a bliliant
milliatary tactic", be is ever so sorry for what happened, right? My ass.
Powel says that this will put us in a bit of a shit can when it comes to
peacful relations with Iraq for a generation. Try centuries. These people
have fought holy wars for centuries based on minor religious disputes, and
turning there people into some "Iraqi girls and boys gone wild" shoot is
going to bone us for ages. Not to mention that even the tiniest thread of a
reason for starting this war has now been cut; Saddam was a tyrant, who
tortured people, and didn't care, and he was a menace for peace and the
Geneva Convention. Now wer are.
Off topic, naturally, but thats my forte. I'm sort of a leftist,
conspiracy, green party cat, so excuse me if I think it's a massive
offshoring, corporate, nineteen eighty-fouresk move to turn this country
into a fear driven capitalist regime, in which Bush planned the WTC attack
to move the patriot act into place, so that he could have a free pass for
martial law, and thus our eventually drop into an Orwellian hell. All paid
for by GM and Time Warner. But I digress and wast time.

Gothos: You'd be surprised how many right-handed conservatives think that
Bush is a moron. Trust me, many actually do. You just do not hear about
them often because the elite Christian Authoritarians have a ground on the
GOP right now. W is going beyond even Traditional Republican values and to
me, contradicts the values (limited government, laissez faire, Darwinism,
etc). I've actually known moderate Repub's that switched parties because
of him, including my stepdad who hasn't changed parties for twenty years.
There's rumors that the GOP is splitting (obviously fairly divided now, as
Bush lost support of the Log Cabin Republicans and other socially
moderate/liberal Republicans).
The only person I'd spare in that party, if anyone, is Colin Powell at this
point. I still have to hear more on Condolezza Rice, but Powell is the
only one...if anyone, that I would spare.
Eh...he's the President and all, but I am personally sick of how he seems
like he's praying in most of his speeches (I'd criticize a Pagan or Jew for
doing it too). I mean come on, it's a known fact that most of our leaders
have been Christians, but not all of them are wearing it on a sleeve like
this guy is. I'd rather see religious content from people who have done
things beyond political rants.
