I don't know much about quantum physics or 25 year long math problems, but
I have read a bit from the great Albert and I would have to somewhat agree
with him. If we are all made of energy and it can never be created or
destroyed but is always changing, then what does it matter if there is a
"God" or not. Even this, If we can not be created nor destroyed, that
sounds like the whole "Alpha and Omega" line to me. Which means we are all
Gods and are in charge of our own destiny and fates. So does that mean that
religion was created as a means of control to keep us all from
"over-advancing" and finding the one thing we all seek, pure happiness??

that is an interesting point it does seem to me that religion and morality
have been used as a tool to keep us from exploring our universe. how many
times have we heard the statement "gods will" anyway??? ____________________ "It is a fool's prerogative to utter truths that no one else will speak." ~

Yes, matter and energy are interchangeable quantities, but I'm not sure if
I would draw the same conclusions that you do. True the actual physical
elements that make up my body will never be destryoed, only changed into,
say, worm food and radiated heat, but form matters a lot. The specific
(and highly complex) configuration of matter and energy that makes up "me"
will some day deteriorate and degarde into less complex forms of matter and
energy. For all intents and purposes I, as a conscious being, will end.
You can see how that might make someone wat to turn to religion for
comfort. |

Noted. I just don't like the idea of someone trying to beat it in my head
that I can't do great things on my own. That the good things that I do by
my own will, I'm supposed to give partial, if not full, credit to an entity
that has never helped me before even upon multiple desperate begging
sessions(prayer, church). I just find my comfort that my energy will be
changed and continue to be used in some meaningful way. Even if it is just
"worm food." They have to eat too ya know! |

Due to the fact that we all, or most of us, have been told from birth that
we have to live a certain way, and dress a certain way, and bust our asses
for peanuts just to scrape by in the world, and that it's the only way we
will ever live. I can see the shitty job situation! |

Go ahead and chastize (hehe) religion, but watch what you say about
morality, zero. That's a term people use lightly, and coincidently,
incorrectly. Keep in mind, that modern society is often (I suppose this is
the form you guys are tiffed at) ruled by religious morals. But that's
bunk, becuase why the hell would I want to follow rules and serve some god,
who in fact, smotes, burns, is vengeful, and gets much better perks than
me. Fuck him.
I've been reading a bit of Sartre lately, and if you wanna have fun about
the nature of man, read some of his works on existentialism. He believes
"Morality" is not the Platoan kind, where all men have a standard to live
by, but rather, that each individual has his own set of codes that work for
him, and him alone. Pretty fun stuff. How come, when most people are young,
and start getting all huffy about the nature of existense, they zero in on
religion, society, and science, and ignore PHILOSOPHY. I know it's boring
people, but there were a bunch of german fellows, back in the old day, that
figured out a lot of cool shit, and it's really cool. Nietzche, Sartre,
Kafka, I could go on. But, oddly enough, I won't. Damn those guys were
cool.......... ____________________ “The only thing that can alter the good writer is death.”

yes, i was talking about christian morality.....if that sense..... but how
is that "bunk" when it really does run our society? It's not like i'm
saying morals are themselves keeping us from exploring the posibilities of
this world. Squire: just because you don't doesn't mean that other's wont.
i don't know how to explain this obviously, so tell me exactly what you
mean so i can have a better grasp on things....

If you follow your logic, then none of us are Gods, because we cannot
control the physical processes which affect us. Choas theory is probably
closer to reality than an kind of control. Although Probability theory,
derived from the work of Einstein means that of course we can never be
certain either way. But then again String and other multi-dimensional
thoeries would have us believe that we can never control ourselves, let
alone the universe around us, since we are only experiencing a minute
proportion of it, and dark matter/ether/the forth dimension or whatever you
want to call it is what makes the most significant changes, yet we can only
oberve it, let alone interact with it on a sub-atomic level. ____________________ Light is changing to shadow, and casting a shroud over all we have known. |

I dont know about not being gods because each of us cant control
everything, there are lots of gods out there than are in charge of only one
or two things. some of them dont "do" anything and are just there, sort of
looking after something. ____________________ Real goths wear silver and crosses to keep the werewolves and vampires

This is an interesting debate indeed, for the construct works in mysterious
ways. It is true that it can manifest as objects, but it can also be
beyond...of course, that's my take on it. It's there, but many things
about it is beyond human comprehension. Religions are inspired by it;
philosophies are moved by it. So in some ways it is human, but in other
ways it's beyond human.
