Part of the new law designating marrige to be between a man and a woman
passed the other day, through one of the barriers to make it a
constitutional amendment... Please all begin screaming in rage now....

AAAARRRRRRGGGGGHHH!!!! Was that loud enough?
I'm sorry that the right wing christians seem to be getting their way. I
thought the reason they wanted to get married were the benifits anyway?
Maybe those benifits could be added to the "partnership" thing. One thing I
know is that I've seen homosexuals in more healthier relationships than
hetero's.....well this sucks......but look on the bright side....their are
bad things that come with marriage too, like devorce, alimony, monogomy,
figuring out which one of you gets the kids, monogomy, spliting up the
property, monogomy, finding new freinds because ur old ones took her/his
side.
Just kidding about monogomy.

Yeah, you ought to know by now that marriage does not necessarily include
monogamy...
*screaming in rage*
It's unfair every way you look at it. If it goes through, it will also make
it that much harder to lobby for group marriages, so it screws the poly
people too.

Yeah, I haven't heard one single, rational explanation why marriage should
be limited to hetero only...
It seems like of all issues, this attacts closed-minded people the most...

I'm all in favor of polygamy myself.
I guess if this gay marriage ban is passed, all isn't lost yet. If enough
people can push for polygamous marriages, there'd be room for all sorts of
combos within the unions.
Meanwhile, a double upraised middle finger, plus a few other obscene
gestures towards Washington D.C. Fuckers.
What does it matter who you love, as long as you aren't raping little kids
or farm animals?
I wish the politicians would let the people decide, instead of trying to
fuck everyone over. They are not the voice of the people. The people who
did vote voted for the least crooked person they could find...and even
then, it probably didn't make a damned bit of difference anyway.
Is anyone actually lobbying against this moronic advance in limiting civil
rights?

I don't think the state should be getting involved.
I don't think there is any reason why Christians should object to gay
marriage.
I don't think that you can force a group (ie; Christians) to accept
something they don't want to, though.
Even if it was made legal, it wouldn't change people's opinions. They'd
call it "wrong", when what's actually at fault is their own view of things.
Making gay marriage illegal is adding to this problem, sending the message
that the hate and prejudice is acceptable... even "right".
My thoughts on the issue are complicated I guess.
I find it offensive that people can be so bigotted. I think gay marriage
should be legal. I just think that there would always be people who
refused to accept it, or acknowledge it as marriage.
Passing a law doesn't make something morally right or wrong, it just shows
what the people in power think about it.
I wish the people in power were not such arseholes.
The UK, and Swansea (where I live) in particular are doing quite well on
the gay marriage front. Gay couples can have civil unions, where they get
the full benefits that a married couple would. The only thing different is
the name of the ceremony.

time a woman gets pregnant and miscarries during the first month or so
before she even KNOWS she's pregnant (which happens to about 90% of women

I do not like what was getting done with gay marriage...and I know damn
well why Bush did it. He did it as a political move to get people to like
him again. People are not happy with him, he's trying really damn hard to
get re-elected. If you want to go to the extreme conspiracy theories, he
did it to take people's mind off the issues. Unfortunately, people are
biting it too.
I think they should legalize Gay Marriages...if they can't do that, then
they need to just leave it alone. We have better things to worry about
than what one's genitals are when they love someone. Geez...
Granted, if people want to scream and not like gays, they have that
right...as long as they don't take away gay rights over it. I think it's
wrong to call them close-minded for the fact that they do not share our
views (not saying people are doing it, just pointing it out). We're
[supposedly] entitled to our opinions.
Churches shouldn't be forced to marry people that they find disgusting, but
I think that courts should at least be able to...does separation of Church
and State mean anything anymore? Oh, let me rephrase that in the language
that my theocratic brothers understand: "Render, therefore, to Caesar the
things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's. (Luke,
20:25)"

That makes alot of sense to me...marriage is a religious ritual....and I
do think the church has a right to turn a way any groups of people who
don't meat certain critiria...but when it comes to state and government I
believe the state should give equal rights to gays....they could do what
they always do.....call it by a different name (instead of marriage) and
give them the same benefits..that sounds like a fair compromise....and if
the church won't partnership them then the state should.
You're absolutely right about the prez trying to get back into the
peoples good graces (by picking on a minority no less).....has anyone
noticed that polititions have been on the fence when it comes to this
issue.....why now has this become a black and white decision? Where's the
grey area gone all of a sudden? Seems to me like he's saying, "hey don't
look over there, where 2 soldiors (american) die every day. Instead look at
this, same sex marriages must be stopped". Yes we're buying into it. Then
again we bought into a week dedicated to Miss Jacksons' exposed breast.

I'm wondering if the next step is for divorce to be made illegal. Then the
way would be paved for religious freedom to get struck down. The "wise"
*choking sound* ones have already made it clear that they don't like
abortion or gay marriage, so the train ride is already set in motion. I
just hope enough liberals end up in congress to derail it in time to
prevent all our freedoms from disappearing.

Poly marriages would present a lot of interesting legal questions,
especially in the areas of property ownership and child custody.
That may well fit into the “articles I’d like to see” category. If not from
personal experience, just how one in theory would handle the legal aspects
of such an arrangement.
And then, since even poly relationships do fail, how would you deal with a
poly divorce? That would be a nasty one for the courts, just judging by how
messy divorce between 2 people can get.
Not that I’m not all for it, because I am. But for poly marriage to become
legal would almost require the complete restructuring of society in many
ways.

Fine so be it!
My (so called elected) leaders, and fellow citizens think same sex marrige
is wrong; then I have little recourse but to move on. My country turns it
back on me (and others) then I will give the same to them. GAHHH!!! What
the HELL is going on in side there heads!

I'm all for outlawing homosexual marriage as long as heterosexual marriage
gets equal treatment. I think the idea of state-sanctioned relationships
is a little mediaeval, anyway. It's hard for me to imagine anyone in this
day and age that would still need that kind of validation if they hadn't
wrapped up people's taxes and insurance benefits into the snare.

Man, I'm married and we *still* ended up owing those bastards. And if we
filed married seperately, it would be even worse. I'm not really sold on
the theory that you get a huge tax break if you're married. Especially if
you don't have kids.

i can speak from personal experience that it costs much more to raise them
than you'll ever get back in tax refunds. Even with the child tax-credit.
