Oh man, bettie, nurses are scary. They are the terrors of the hospital.
They are sadistic, mean people who feed of the fear they invoke when they
come into the room with needles and catheters. So you should do just fine.
Seriously though, I love nurses. I just happen to be surrounded by them.
I always knew it was the profession for me *muahahahaha*
Nurses ARE ruthless, try having one for a mom. They see the worst of it
all every day so when you're bawling because you did something dumb and
hurt yourself DON'T go to them for sympathy. We had the "three days" rule.
If you were sick, you got THREE DAYS of babying, and after that you were
on your own, no whining, crying, bitching, moaning NOTHING. The only time
she extended the three day rule for me was when I got a 2 week flu (and I
remember only a few days of those two weeks) and was comatose on the couch
for the entire time.
I even sprained my ankle and she didn't believe me. Tore every ligament,
swelled up like a football and turned purple, and ONLY then when she saw it
turning black did she admit she was wrong.

I hear you. My mom is also a nurse. She works Labor and Delivery, always on
the grave yard shift. She sent me to school once with a 101 temp. When I
got sent home later, she just looked at me and said, "Well at least you
tried." Her idea of birt control was to take me to see births, up close and
personal. After the one I saw with the episiotomy...oh man. Just...oh man.
We had to be missing a limb before we could get a band-aid. And she would
always try to turn it into an educational experience.
"Do you know what that bone is, sweeite?"
"Yeah...BROKEN!"
My older sister just finished up her nursing program. And for the cherry on
top, Dolo's mom is not only a nurse, but she used to work with my mom. It's
like this sphere of nurse that I can't escape.

Jeez, you were upset about an episiotomy? I had an episotomy with the first
and the second one... the third pregnancy was a bloodbath in which they
sliced me open and yanked two little boys out of me... much worse than an
episotomy... I quit having kids after that. Rogue went and got a voluntary
vasectomy after having to watch something like that. During the second one,
they had to do a special procedure because she was late and breech and they
had to turn her around in my womb, and they had about 8 student doctors in
there to watch the procedure. When they asked me if it was okay to have
them watch, I said, "Sure, I'm all in favor of higher education.." Then I
proceeded to scream my head off. The episotomy was just insult to injury at
that point. Give me an episotomy any day, just never make me have to go
through labor again, or get sliced open to the womb with people pulling my
entire uterus out and playing with it before putting it back again....

Wow...sounds like she was behind HMOs...
My mom's been a nurse for 20 years, and she's always been pretty cool, even
when I was faking. Saying very little did pay off every now and then...

Yeah, I didn't have much trouble with nurse-parents, and I had two... Both
my mom and my dad are nurses... I just couldn't pull anything, because they
could tell if I was faking a cough or such...
But it really rocks when you get cut up real bad, but they just take you
into the bathroom and patch you up with bandages they 'borrowed' from their
job... No need to go to the hospital...

Did they ever patch you up with that transparent stuff that was supposed to
be like a second skin? That stuff is cool...
