This is yet to be another sticky subject, but I thought I'd take the risk.
I noticed that there's quite a few people here that practice some form of
Pagan faith. There were some questions I was wanting to ask *is doing
research on magick and Witchcraft*...if you do not mind sharing.
What faith do you practice?
If you do practice magick (I know some are just happy with prayer), what
kind of magick do you engage in (Enochian Ceremonial Magick, divination,
warding, etc)? I'm also curious on experiences people would not mind
sharing.
Again, this is a touchy subject and only ask for those who do not mind
sharing this information. I figure that personal experiences could help a
bit on my research. I'm also open for some books that you'd recommend me
to read.

I can do some sweet card tricks...and I can pull coins out of people's
ears...no seriously, big ass coins, and they're usually all fuckin' grimy
and waxy.
Seriously though, although I have no faith basis for any paranormal habits
I may engage in, I have an eclectic way with magic I guess. A little bit of
this and a little bit of that, primarily based on old school medicine
stuff.
The injuns knew some seriously cool shit...problem with medicine is that
most people aren't really capable of getting on a spirit's good side.
Crowley was a total dork...I mean, sheez...look at the guy, he is ALWAYS
bumming cigarettes...what a dick. ____________________ In the valley of the Goats, the Goat Fucker is King |

I personally practice erisianism... I am a follower of the Grecco-roman
goddess of mischief and chaos. When it comes down to it... find your
path... no one can recommend something that will work for you, since, like
prayer, magick is the use of faith, you are excercising your faith in the
divine to change the fabric of reality. if it does not come from within...
id doesna happen.

Yeah - according to some pagans I talked to, they see little, if any
difference between spells and prayer. I also hear that the stuff wont work
period if you do not put any faith or confidence in the work.

Well.. that is essentially the same thing... BUT if I were to recommend
anyhting... From a crappy, but awesome sci-fi (Andromeda) ... it is called
WAyism... the Way... saint budha, saint krishna, saint jesus... all ways to
look at the divine, and all are right...
people talk about the 'rede... DO what thou wilt an it harm none... it is
impossible to harm nothing and survive... but I strive to follow it... but
I follow a second rule... there is no one true way... what is right for my
path... is not necessarily right for your path.

That is very true. Not saying that the rede is bad, but even if you went
full-fledged vegan, you're still harming organisms when you're drinking
water, stepping on things, and some people are going to be in a place where
they have to defend themselves.
I agree with the "no one true way" part. Some people are complete being
conservatively one direction, others are with eclectic tendencies (like
me), etc.
I've just been gathering from other people's experiences and recommended
sources for I like exploring, heh. |

*raises hand* *is a very eccectic sort of Pagan* I don't do that much spell
work, but when I do it's just the nice and simple stuff. Ceremonial magick
is so very not for me. I'm interested in Greek and Celtic pantheons and
mythology in particular, though don't actually know a *great* deal about
them. I like divination as well; tarot and runes particularly. I'm working
on getting my tarot reading a bit better, so I'm more fluid in reading the
cards. Don't really have any terribly thrilling experiences to share I'm
afraid. ____________________ Do not fear death so much, but rather the inadequate life. |

Someone also told me that thing that everyone has their affinity with
certain things. She cannot seem to get in touch with her tarot deck for
the fact that they can mean many things, but she has a friend who does. So
I am somewhat gathering that magick is something that is also very
personal. I'm still asking questions about it for I like to "explore"
spirituality.
I do not necessarily consider myself a Pagan, but there's a lot of aspects
of Paganism that I am adopting - it feels more harmonious compared to being
strictly "one thing", hence my eclectic tendencies in spirituality. It
isn't me hanging on the fence, it's me finding a contact to Divinity
through my own way, heh. As Feral says, there is no "one way."
My tarot deck was given to me by inheritance. Once I get more time on my
hands, I'm going to read the manuals and see if I have any "knack" with
them. I'm open for any advice people are willing to give when I do get to
it.

Well ... I don't practice ... I just do ... I go all on feelings ...
everything to tarot cards and using them in spells ... to using herbs ...
no!!!!!! not that kind .... in spells ... candles is another thing ... I
read tons of books and try to learn about all sorts of things ... I also
have stuff only spoken thru word of mouth not written ... Its good to know
different kinds of people and not just stick to one ... but this is how i
live and how i feel .. everyone is different which is what makes us all
lessons in life and teachers ... but hey what do i know .... *grin* |

*shakes head* There are those who would take even loving themself to far
also. Yet
if you want safe then loving yourself is safer then giving completely and
asking nothing in return from another. *waves hand* what do I know. |

To love yourself I have found that most find it very diffecult to do this.
Those who do fall maddly in love with themselves are just vain. Boy let my
tell you around here there are many vain humans. Who only look at the
shells of others and not the soul. blah blah blah on and on I go .. |

Love yourself? What sort of fancy magic masturbation handbook did that come
out of? Thats the damned hardest thing in the world to do right there...and
besides, you can do some seriously awesome damage if you really hate
yourself.
Theres a roleplaying game out there called Mage: The Ascension, it has
some pretty idea noodles in it, a really clever way of putting it
together...I actually suggest that book a lot to novice types...before of
course, sending them down the path of self destruction and whatnot...not
that I'm...er...doing that here mind you.
No matter what your source is...there isn't any room for weakness. Weakness
gets your ass kicked all over the place and then some, I know that much.
Sorcery, Magic, Special K, tricks or whatever you call it...you sacrifice
everything and anything to climb the ladder rung by rung...in the end, if
you choose that sort of path, it'll become you ya know.
Personally thats cool with me...but I'd rather bust a guy in the chops
with a two-by-four than waste concentration-juice on cursing the shit out
of him... ____________________ In the valley of the Goats, the Goat Fucker is King |
