It seems to me the act is going after the people who run the gatherings. I
wish I could get more worked up about this, but I can't seem to muster any
sense of outrage. It says that the bill is too broadly written, but so is
the protest. Show me a clean rave, and I'll eat my right arm. Show me a
rave where the peson running it isn't aware of drug use on the premises,
and I'll eat my other arm.
I can see where the bill is in fact, too general, but I'm not really seeing
the contreversy. Besides, I hate ravers. They taste funny.

Agreed but this effects not only raves but clubs, protests and concerts.
That’s what I’m worried about. They’ll punish organizers and owners and so
we, the people who don’t go around pumping our bodies full of
hallucinogens, will be punished because the places/events we attend could
be shut down for a while or for good.
- War on drugs. Catchy title. Reminds me of another one which slowly takes
away certain rights.
If you can get it go to www.asleepbydawn.com, their magazine is free (so
it’s for me) without worry of spam. Their September 2003 issue I picked up
at Nocturne on Wednesday has a very interesting article (pg 63) about the
rave act.
All I can say is that there's more harmful things than drugs that're
legal......
I've only gone to one concert, but it was an interesting experience. Do
not really see why they're going after those. I understand getting on
people's ass for irresponsible actions (drunk driving, etc), but not for
doing the drugs themselves. I am not to say that people should not be
drinking alcohol, but I do not really see how pot is anymore effective than
that...oh wait, pot is illegal so it's wrong!!!
*shrug*
The more repression, the more disorder.

Whoah... according to asleepbydawn, the RAVE Act was signed into law way
back in april... Rats.
Anyway, I know that the concert managers know about drug abuse, but there's
not a lot they can do. The petition authors brought up a good point:
There's drug abuse in our government prisons and government schools, and
they think private businesses can do any better? Why don't they set the
example! Sheesh...
And, like the petition authors also stated, any repression of raving just
drives it further underground and it becomes less legit and less safe.
"any repression of raving just drives it further underground and it becomes
less legit and less safe"
Hm, sounds like a lot of things that they try to repress, like drugs, and
during prohibition (most of the illegal booze you got was okay, but you get
a bad batch and wham, you're blind or dead).

I'd ask you to elaborate, Abbadon, but you seem to just come and go with
the wind, so this forum will be long buried by the time you come back
here...

Regulation usually works out to be safer than total denial of a substance
or action. When people want to do something, they will usually find a way
to do it. It won't always be the safest or most convenient way to do it,
but it will happen none the less.

I honestly dont see a point in it really. People are going to participate
in doing illeagal activities regardless if you take away thier
"enviroments" and what have you.
