Eh, nothing new darling girl, they just finally decided to let a few more
people into their office pool of who's gonna blow what up next.

Alright,
I can accept that fact that this is probably nothing new to the good ole
boys that have been betting on it for years, or at least one can presume.
But the fact that someone in their infinite wisdom thought it would be a
good idea to actually set up a future's market for bidding on possible
terrorists threats has got to be, without a doubt, one of the most evil
things I’ve ever heard of.
I mean does no one even think about the possible consequences of something
like that. That they could justify it by saying that it would allow them to
more accurately predict terrorists’ acts is even more frustrating. It
encourages people to act in an irresponsible way in order to gain
something.
Although I’m sure that a Bush Assassination pool might be
interesting, I wouldn’t dare start one up, as I’m pretty sure
what with homeland security an all, that even suggesting it would make me a
terrorist.
One also has to wonder about who exactly would be investing in this futures
market? Will there be screening to make sure that money being paid off to
various organizations isn’t be recycled and then fed into the bank
accounts of those who might commit terrorists acts. I mean, talk about
putting the fix in.

typical bush administration for you there. now, instead of a 'disscusion'
on whos gonna incinerate who next its an open banter, think of it this way,
at least now someone out there is actually gaining money off of war...

Actually war gains a lot money for the government and it's officials.
I would have bet that the media did a fair job of blowing this particular
issue out of proportion with loaded terms like "gambling on terrorism" and
the usual sexing-up of the stories they present as to make it more about
entertainment, because journalism no longer exists in our modern society.
This is however a non issue. See below.
Whoah, Domkitten, you're right! Isn't it possible for someone to buy a
future, then commit a terrorist act to raise its value, then sell it off?
Oui...
