I´m trying to put together the Megalo80s CD and I´m having a little trouble
with the playlist. I´m going for a kind of Synthpop/Billboard type CD so
although I´d love to throw Skinny Puppy and Clan of Xymox on there it
wouldn´t have the flashbacks to seeing MTV when I was a little kid (yoo
remember, when MTV used to be Music Television and not "More
Television).
Here´s my playlist so far:
(1)Dead or Alive ... Yoo Spin Mee Right ´Round, Baby
(2)Men Without Hats ... Safety Dance
(3)Falco ... Rock Mee Amadeus
(4)New Order ... Blue Monday
(5)Aha ... Take on Mee
(6)Eurythmics ... Here Comes the Rain Again
(7)Men at Work ... A Land Down Under
(8)Prince ... When Doves Cry
(9)Soft Cell ... Tainted Love
(10)Depeche Mode ... Policy of Truth
(11)Madonna ... Get in the Groove
I need some more suggestions...

You don´t have the other great Eurythmics hit, "Sweet Dreams"..
Peter Murphy "cuts you up"
Cyndi Lauper "girls just wanna have fun"
The Buggles "video killed the radio star" (very ironic that that´s the
first video played on MTV)
The Bangles "walk like an egyptian"
David Bowie "china girl"
Guns and Roses "welcome to the jungle"
Flock of Seagulls "Ran"
Blondie "call me"
Duran Duran "girls on film" or "rio"
Love and Rockets "so alive"
The Cure "friday I´m in love"
Billy Idol "rebel yell"
Pet Shop Boys "it´s a sin"
Wierd Al "like a surgeon"
Depeche Mode "man behind the wheel", "personal jesus" or "enjoy the
silence".
and Front 272 and Skinny Puppy ARE 80´s bands, so GO for it!

Damnit, how did I forget David Bowie? Duran Duran and Gary Numan are also
great ideas!
Okay, here´s the thing: I could put Pink Floyd, Blondie, and Joy Division
on there but to mee those are more 70s bands than 80s.
Also the reason I don´t put Puppy or 242 on there is the second I do it
will quickly get dominated by industrial when I´m really looking for
synthpop. Likewise, if I put The Cure, Peter Murphey, or Love and Rockets
on there it will quickly get dominated by gothrock. (it´s really difficult
for mee to not put "Every Day is Halloween" on there)
The reason I chose "Here Comes the Rain Again" over "Sweet Dreams" is that
I remember watching the video for "Here Comes the Rain Again" as a kid when
I only remember the song for "Sweet Dreams." Although by that rationale I
should put "Enjoy the Silence" on there instead of "Policy of Truth."
Hmmm...

Pet Shop Boys: "West End Girls"!
OK, "It´s a Sin" is way better, but "West End..." is sooo much more 80´s!
