I´m working on a listing of gothic authors and bands for my website. If
anyone can reccomend any to me (especially if they know of a website
dedicated to said person/group) I would be incredibly grateful.
While I am trying to get a list of *mainly* gothic type o´ peoples, it
would be great to know of anyone else that you think is worth reading /
listening to.
I have a few authors (http://psychopixi.com/gothic_literature.htm) and
quite a large list of groups (http://psychopixi.com/groups.htm) online
already; so you can see who I have already mentioned.
Any help *whatsoever* would be simply brilliant. Thank you.

I took a quick look at your list of authors, and found Anne Rice missing.
Definantly a gothic writer. Nice list, by the way! Now I know where to go
when inspiration is getting low :-D

Nice!
But there are some gaps:
Clive Barker
Ambrose Bierce
Madame Blavatsky
Nick Cave
Lewis Carrol
Samuel Taylor Coleridge
Philip K. Dick
Umberto Eco
Sheridan Le Fanu
Neil Gaiman
Brothers Grimm
Ursula Le Guin
Elizabeth Hand
C.S. Lewis
Herman Melville
Jeff Noon
Mervyn Peak
John Polidori
Marquis de Sade
Sir Walter Scott
Mary Shelley
Robert Louis Stephenson
Donna Tartt
JRR Tolkien
Horace Walpole
HG Wells
William Butler Yeats
- Don´t know if you think Aleister Crowley and Anton La Vey are relevant,
I´d include them.
I´ll probably remember some more in two minutes!
(Many times two minutes later: OK, I´m stopping now... Got a bit carried
away!)

Well, a lot of people do not consider such novels to be in a gothic
reference. But, in dealing with the characters within the book, you
usually find that at least one character that is the focal point of the
story has an IQ much higher than those around him(or her, as the case may
be, but I will default to the male noun for simplicity) and often finds the
actions of his companions to be either silly and redundant and their
opinions on the matter uninformed or outright ignorant.
While certain websites will bring criticism to the concept that all goths
think they, nationally polled, are 110% smarter than their peers, it is not
on average to find most of us have a literary observation bent and thusly
find our own perspectives mimicking those of Mark Twain Dave Barry for the
ones with a sense of humorist nihilism about themselves(the madness of a
society that nominates it´s criminals and later elects them to power rather
than simply catching them, if I can´t seem to do this one simple task how
is it everyone can?) or in a bizarre bent that leads to philosophical
insight on the meaning of the curves and bends of our society and our lives
around the need to cater to the weaker-minded individuals.
On a side note, I´m making most of my psuedo-intellectual fuckwit posts at
god-forbid in the a.m., so if any of the sentences seem incoherent or
outright rambling, let me know.

Comedian: Well, I see your point, _but_ I thought most people here agreed
to fuck the stereotypes... Not literally.
And if stereotyping _is_ desired - didn´t Mark Twain write an excellent
ghost story?

Although Stephen Crane isn´t a gothic author, "Maggie: A Girl of the
Streets" would probably appeal to people with gothic tastes. Same as alot
of Mark Twain´s stuff.
Which was that Mark Twain story where the angel goes into the small town
and convinces everybody how they´d be much happier if they were dead?

Most of Mark Twain´s ghost stories were old cowboy stories told sitting
around the fire. He just put them into print and took out all the "like
this" and "y´all"s.
As for the angel bit, I´m not sure.
