Death has touched us all in one way or another. Whether it be a loved
person or a pet, the unavoidable hands from death have struck close to our
hearts. Cruelly and unjustly, they take away those dearest to us and we are
left in the aftermath to recite final goodbyes.
Today was a final goodbye to my friend Tim. He fell to another seizure and
failed to wake up...the respirator kept life in his body until it was
disconnected...his organs given to other souls before he was cremated...
I saw him on his final day, smiling and happy as always...moments before we
were separated for the last time. As swiftly as he came, his body gave way
and his life was gone. However, Tim knew that death approached but to him
it was a trivial factor. He lived each moment like it was his last and
always with a smile upon his face. His mind wasn’t bound by cloths of
bigotry or ignorance, he didn’t care what race, religion or your personal
preferences to life was...all he cared about is if you were happy.
One moment in my mind that sticks out more than anything else was one of
our numerous conversations walking to the gas station for smokes. As we
talked about life, death, depression and other things, he turned to me and
said, “Dave, I really hope one day you will find true happiness.”
And he was sincere to every word.
For me, the loss of a loved one is a biter experience that I’ve suffered
repeatedly...but, today as I said my final goodbyes to my friend (who was a
second brother to me) I realized something...his love and compassion for
all walks of life, perhaps, was the greatest gift he could have left us
all.
Goodbye Tim...
Until we meet again,
your legacy of love and joy
will live on within all our hearts. ____________________

You have my most sincere condolences. Death is an impenetrable mystery and
we can only comfort ourselves with the faith that life and death are not
entirely meaningless. It sounds as though your friend was a friend to the
core and I am convinced that a person´s character must count for
something... even if it is beyond this life. Realise that your all too
brief experience with your friend has enriched your own life and pass that
along to others (as you have very eloquently done). There might not be a
reward for being a good person, but you can make certain that this
worthwhile life, one that has so profoundly touched your own, receives a
fitting legacy.
I am also mourning currently, and I regret that I am not able to offer you
a respite from the grief that we are all heir to. ____________________

Thanks for taking your time out to write and read my post. He was a very
good friend to me and many others. I’m terribly sorry about your loss, it’s
a unbearable burden that we all must accept.
Please excuse my lack of words, I am still, well, god-smacked by how
quickly this tragedy happened.
Thank you again for sharing your thoughts, especially in a painful time

| I deal with the thoughts of death everyday. My father has cancer and is
fighting it everyday. He has been in radiation everyday since July 1st.
My grandma is just plain dying. Even though my mom writes about how up and
down my dad is...i just feel like deaht is apon me in some way...and that
is the only thing that scares me the most. ____________________

No thanks are necessary, Alone. I understand. And Morte, you also have my
condolences for what they are worth. I am not sure if it is easier to let
go of a loved one after they have passed or to sit helplessly while their
health fails. I will light a candle for you both.

Morte, I know how you feel you have my greatest condolences.
What I am about to say is not a bid for sympathy.
I talked to a friend of mine, she’s a mother of three and two of her sons
are very close friends of mine. She’s slowly losing a battle to cancer and
the doctors think that her cancer has spread to her liver. It originated in
her throat. Her next operation will be a tracheotomy. I doubt she will make
it to Thanksgiving...if she makes if threw her surgeries.
I will always remember this about her. Even when all hope is lost, she
still manages to gather up strength for her family and her friends. She’s a
single mother who is willing to take in more than just her sons. She’s
paretically a mother to many who aren’t even her own.
Don´t like the future’s grim outlook pull you or them down.
Cherish every moment you have with them. ____________________
