Okay, beware, this is a terribly boring, tedious and mundane forum topic,
and Iīll only need feedback until the 31st, so if you have something to
contribute, please do, if not? too bad *snicker*
I am currently searching for a spankinī new mode of transportation. Itīs a
sea of car salesmen, high sticker prices, and SALESMEN. Since itīs the end
of the month they are frothing at the mouth and pouncing on anyone that
drives into the lot...but thatīs okay. I literally went from just dropping
by to the sales manager staring a hole in my head and asking me "What do I
have to do to get you to drive this car of the lot right now..."
PREASSURE!! AACK!! *head explodes*
Anyway, I have a question, and want opinions of the cars out there I"m
looking at.
I like the new ford focusī...theyīre cute, drive nicely, and are reasonably
priced. plus come standard with a six disk in dash cd player *DROOL* Iīve
heard that they are awesome and worth it, and Iīve heard that theyīre a
disaster on wheels.
I also am looking at a hyumdai (spelled? hundai? Hyundi? whatever)
accent, and drove that and an elantra today...RAD cars, good warranty..okay
best Iīve ever seen. The elantra is a bit more pricey, but not much more
than the focus and quite a bit less "plasticy".
Are there cars Iīm overlooking? What do you think of these? I fucking
hate car shopping.... ____________________ Trapped in time. Surrounded by evil. Low on gas. |

In my opinion American cars are crap. They simply arenīt built to last and
they eat away gas alot more quickly. This is why 10 year old American cars
appear broken down whereas 15 year old foregin cars just appear old. Iīm
not really into Hundai but if the other option is Ford then Hundai is my
choice. Are yoo shopping new or used? ____________________

Actually, I see old american cars everywhere, the only old foreign cars I
see are volkswagon bugs and volvos. My first car was a 1980 Dodge
Diplomat, and it is still on the road.
Iīd take a look at the dodge neons also, my sister has one, and she doesnīt
have any complaints. I believe that saturns are also kinda cheap, and if
the one I got to drive was any example, then they ainīt too bad of a car
either. ____________________ Sometimes I dream about dinosaurs shopping for cargo shorts at the Gap.

Yeah... Volkswagens rock. My brotherīs Passat keeps breaking down,
though... Iīd go with a jetta.
The ones you mentioned, Betty, are pretty good, too, I guess. A few of the
guys here at work drive them and they donīt have any complaints...
Yeah, squid... I think you got it wrong... American cars -last- man... How
many old-school mustangs, Evylens, and assorted others do you see on the
street? Then how many of the old school mercedes, bmw, god-knows-what do
you see on the street? And thanks to good-hard-working American teenagers,
those cars are pretty good-looking.
It was when we had to start competing with Japanese imports that quality
suffered... When was the last time you saw a steel bumper?! So donīt bag
America... Of course, nothing could rival the Volkswagens, but theyīre in a
class of their own...
*loves volkswagens*

In my opinion the ultament goth car would be a 1966 black hurst (funeral
car) But the chance of you finding that is slim to none. So here are some
other options. Pontiac makes a sporty little grand prix that in black
looks bitchen and with a two or four door you ca get one that works for
you. Next is the toyota Celica it is sleek and also bitchen in black. but
it also looks good in silver. And for last is the Misubitis Eclipes I
personally like the look of dark green on the car, and the thing has alot
of speed.
Hope you find one that you like.

I disagree on the eclipse. Iīve had one for about 3 years now and Iīve
already replaced the engine, and everything (including the new engine) is
falling apart. Theyīre shiny and cheap - and theyīre fast when the engine
is new - but it doesnīt last long. Iīm not going to be buying another one.
But if you really want to buy one, Iīll make you an excellent deal ____________________ So Sayeth Me |

Thanks guys!!!
hundai isnīt that bad, I drove an elantra and they are a bit more pricey,
but I found a couple car dealers that didnīt make me want to spit in their
face and were willing to FIND me a car that I WANTED instead of pushing me
into a car I didnīt.
What kills me is that all the inexpensive cars out there (kia rio, hundai
accent) have a CD player, but NO ac and NO power locks/windows!
"look, the seat does this cool adjusty thing if you turn these knobs, and
it has a CD player....and you only NEED ac about two months out of the
year..."
Yeah, but those two months out of the year here are enough to WANT it.
I"m holding off the buying for now...until I can find what I want for the
price that I want...maybe until the end of next month if I have to.
Thanks for the tips...itīs a lot of help and info. Iīm not going for the
ford focusīs...Iīve asked a LOT of people that own them and read a LOT of
consumer reports, and they seem to lose their niceness after about 10k
miles...get loud, rattle....and have the worst warranty I have seen.
But those little cars with no power anything have the BEST ones...5yr
bumper to bumper + roadside assistance and 10 yr powertrain. Decisions
decisions.
And I am shopping new If Iīm going to be blowing a payment I want it new new new with
a WARRANTY that will last the duration of the car.
I have more to check out, but you guys have been a load of help!
If anyone else has anything to add, please do, like I said, as much as I
want one now, Iīm in no hurry until I get exactly what I want for how much
I want.

i feel i need to say something here. i have owned a ford focus zx3 for
almost 2 years and it has been the best little car that i have ever owned.
currently it has about 25k miles on it and no rattles and no problems at
all. none. itīs loaded with all the options and it even has a moon roof
and still i bought it for about 15k. i highly recommend going with a
standard transmission though, makes the little car even more fun. weeee!
and the backseat folds down and you can remove the divider for the trunk
and the whole back opens up... perfect for moving let me tell you. and
yeah, the warranty is only for 3 years or 36k miles, whichever comes first.
but so far iīve had the best luck with it and almost two years later, i
still love it. ____________________
