i admit it.. i am verry bitter on this subject.. so if i say something
that offends someone i apologise in advance.
what the hell do people have agenst theos of us who have A.D.D (attention
defficate disorder)/A.D.H.D (attention deficate hyperactivity disorder) i
have had it.. and known about it since i was five. i was taking ritilin
since then first it was five mg. a day.. then five mg. twice a day.. then
ten mg. twice a day and then i got time release.. and i took one of thoes
every morning so i could concentrate in school. i did that for almost nine
years.. i couldnt tell that it was doing anything.. but i can never tell
when drugs effect me unless i go numb
i stopped taking it last year.. i would do whatever i could to not take it
(i really dont like having my mind altered.. it just doesnt do it for
me.. specially when i cant controle it..) i would hide them in my pockets
and toss them later.. or keep them under my toung (they tasted horable..)
finally i got to the point where my mother would watch me take them..
watch me swallow them.. i would go into the bathroom and make myself throw
up to get them out.
this last school year (im 15 now) she decided to let me stop taking them
because i want to go into the militay when im out of highschool. i was
going to a militay school last school year and i will after this one as
well (a different one) she decided that since i didnt want to take them
anyways i didnt have to waist the money every month for something i was
just going to waist anyways..
im fine without them now.. but i still have harh feelings because i am
still A.D.H.D. and im sick of non add/adhd people thinking that because
they dont have it that theyknow everything baout thoes who do. einstine had
it. (so they think) and got horable grades because of it. i get alot of
shit about how all of us are soo lazy and stuff and how unintelegent we are
just because we have a genetic disorder that makes oir attention span about
2 seconds. i am soo tired of getting shit about being lazy BECAUSE i have
it. even if i didnt have it i might still be lazy (i hate to do school
work unless it clicks right away.. so i never do math ;p) and there are
plenty of people whop dont have it who are STILL lazy.. so what i dont get
is why, just because we have been tested for it, we are assumed to all be
lazy.?
i have seen my tests from when i was five.. it was all verbal testing. i
was young and i for one think they misdiagnosed me.. but whatever.
basically i had nightmares (what five year olds dont tho?) and i couldnt
sit still and i never ate much.. i always have energy.. even when i dont
sleep for three days.. i dont see how that could be bad
im just sick of people assuming that because im adhd that im lazy and
stupid.. and i know lots of people have it.. and alot of them deal with
the same thing.
i exist. i dont thin about it. we have an understanding, my disorder and
me, where it doesnt show up and i dont think about it.
but the shit still flies..
anyone have any ideas WHY?
please.. help me understand this nonsence.. ____________________

People always have problems with those who are different, even in the
simplest and silliest of ways...I have a couple gears loose myself, and
peoplenever fail to get put off by it.
They either view it as a weakness or a defeciency on our part, or not even
real at all...that weīre "faking" it.
Whatever.
People who actually try and understand are a rare breed, and personally,
everyone else can go to hell. I work with a girl that has ADD, I think
sheīs a trip...sheīs got the attention span of a hamster on meth, and she
works really good until she gets distracted. We joke about it a lot
actually...she pokes fun at me from being an occasional raving lunatic, and
I poke at her for her old job...she used to load coordinates into long
range weapons.
We get along just fine...everyone else just tends to give us mad
leeway.
People are afraid of what they donīt understand...most of the time. ____________________

Mostly because people donīt understand what itīs LIKE. Thatīs usually the
problem, you see. Like someone with a speech impediment...you can
pronounce a syllable or correct them each time they do it incorrectly, and
it does you no good, and they just donīt understand why you donīt speak
"right". Or learning disabilities such as dyslexia...the kids arenīt
stupid, their brains just figure things out differently...
People are under the assumption that the brain works one way and one way
only, and that if it doesnīt work THAT way itīs defective, or that the
kidīs just destined to be a flunkie.
Usually kids that are put on ritalin donīt really need it...they need
attention, nothing more. Being out of control is the only way to get mom
or dad to look at them. Children in GENERAL need a LOT of attention, and
parents arenīt always aware of that..they want their kids to pop out, be
cute, then sit down and shut up and be happy. LIttle mute, tame replicas
of themselves. Iīve heard mothers distressing over their young children
(boys especially) "what is WRONG with him? Heīs laughing at nothing,
running around like a maniac, asking a thousand questions, driving me
nuts!"
Well, whatīs wrong is heīs a CHILD. Kids DO that, I"d be worried if mine
DIDNīT!
The only time I"d opt for drugs is if the child was so out of control they
were a danger to themselves or others, or were doing poorly in school
because of an inability to pay attention.....and drugs ONLY after seeing if
lots of time and attention and "training" from me. As in you sit a kid in
a chair, and put a toy in front of them and tell them they canīt touch it
until the egg timer beeps that a minute has gone by. Each time they do it,
reset it.
When success is reached, increase the time.
Read them a page from a favorite book and ask them what it was about. Itīs
called PARENTING folks, try it!
I feel for you man, add/adhd has got to be tough to have. Hell, I"ve been
dysleix all these years and my mom STILL doesnīt believe me. Just thinks
Iīm not paying enough attention to "detail" *grin*

i dont know.. my dad had add too.. somewhere they decided to add the h in
for me to feel special or something *snort* yea.. right..
actually as long as people dont talk shit i dont care.. i have a varry mild
dyslexia too just about everything is backward.. nothing is out of place
its just backward.. i showed my mom how to write so that i could read it
better.. but ive learned how to read things WITHOUT a mirror *hehe* so now
im an avid reader
but what theycouldnt understand was that whenever i had something that
really took me i couldnt do anything else. like when i would draw or colour
(comeone folks.. i was five!!) they couldnt do anythng to get me away from
it. as long as i was distracted from eerything else they didnt have to
worry about me
and my mom did try that training thing.. about the time she stopped
hitting me.. it was called one two three magic.. basically when she got
to three i got ten min in my room.. woo hoo huh? well being that age it
did matter..
and it didnt work too well either.. i always found ways to get around it..
either it was a good thing or a bad one.. we had the egg timer and
everything and she would keep it on the table so before i left i woyuld
wait till she wasnt looking and change it about a minuit or so..
she cant do that anymore cuz i spend most of my time in my room anyways..
same with my sister.. and we both have computers and tvs and everything so
it diesnt matter.. she doesnt really punish us anymore.. and she takes it
easier on me now because i put up with a year in hell to further my
education and get some structure in my life.. (its really not as bad as
they say.. but being cooped up with 20 other females 24/7 and all the
fighting that goes on between them.. well thats the bad part  ) basically i was a
loner at school.. so im ok without the friends now.. (and i have none..
so its a good thing..)
now what keeps me going is a need to spread information and ideas.. it
keeps me in line these days..
i understand that people resent what they dont understand.. but umm..
isnt there a way to make them understand? i spoze not.. *sigh* ive been
trying since i could understand what was going on..
ooh well..even if it doesnt work im gunna keep right on trying  ____________________

| Yes I think they misdiagnose children all the time with ADD/ADHD and I find
it sad. They want kids on drugs because parents want them to calm, and
quiet and out of the way. In America today, children are supposed to act
like adults. Throughout elementary school Iīve heard soo many times how I
should "grow up" and now that I think about it Iīm disgusted. Of course,
there are always going to be those kids who are loud and kids who canīt sit
still. But that doesnīt mean you put them on drugs. Theyīre kids!!
Besides, some high schoolers who donīt really a have ADD and know it sell
their drugs to kids at school. Yes, I know. It happens around here. And
people who think that kids with ADD/ADHD are lazy and all that shit are
just stupid and are a waste of time and breath. I personally feel that if
someone is going to call someone whom they probably dont even know as a
person lazy, or something, then they should just be ignored. Theyīre just
losers. ____________________

sometimes things just cant be ignored..
and besides that there are like 30 drugs out there to treat add/adhd.. its
sad..
its not like we NEED to be numbed to the world or anything.. hey i deal
with it just fine..
i think alot of add adhd people are more sensitive to things.. or maybe
its that i just lost my baby birdie.. maybe thats it..
hmm.. no i think i just have alot of energy..
not only that ritilin supresses the appitite of thoes who take it and i
took it for about 8 years.. so im short and everything.. no appitite
nothing to grow with.. i grew real slowly.. and im now, at age 15, at my
full height of 5ī2
*sigh*

Keep in mind this is coming from somebody who just celebrated 2 years of
total sobriety (I donīt even take ASPRIN anymore, but I still attend
Cannabis Legalization demonstrations and my attitude has not changed toward
drugs)
The American Medical system is slowly turning people into sheep! MAOIs not
only kill peopleīs emotions (turning them into the kind of people who wear
a grey suit sitting behind a brown desk in a beige office taking orders
from the Man) but they suppress a personīs drive to assert themselves!
That is a fact!
ADD/ADHD is for the most part a hyperactivity of Imagination making Ritilin
therefor a drug to suppress the Right Hemisphere of the Brain!
Creativity is the most beautiful gift a person can have and the most
wonderful form of intelligence. Any act to destroy creativity is
conformity and oppression!
Fuck what yor doctors say, the drug companies are paying them to prescribe
their drugs. Same with the FDA and the AMA. Never take ritilin or MAOIs. ____________________

it can be really hard to care for a child with addh. they are always on,
talking, moving, testing, going. they are harder to protect from standard
household injury because they move around the house so much. Some kids just
sit there, not even wanting to move and they are easy to care for. but not
very rewarding to care for. addh kids, when they really learn something
new, achieve some personal goal, inspire themselves into something, THEY
really do it. thier heart made them do it, not you telling them to.
thier frustration is awful too witness. they try so many things that they
have more oppurtunities to fail and become frustrated than "normal" lumps
(oops i mean kids) who only go as far as you tell them with a task.
it is as exhausting to care for addh kids as it is to be one, so lets
medicate the adults (cocaine anyone) so they can keep up! ____________________

That idea rocks!
Personally I think Iīd get a kick out of having a child with ADD...I mean,
can you imagine the poor mom, trying to keep tabs on her child, whoīs
running around like mad...and her dad screaming about waging war on Abraham
Lincolns horde of brain-eating mongolian space bovines...that would be so
bitchinī...
Personally, being in the medical field, I can understand that drugs can
sometimes help, and occasionally are needed. I donīt agree with Ritalin
though...and for the most part, I donīt agree with any sort of drug that
affects the brain. (Even in the case of Antipsychotics...theyīre sort of a
faux cure, pretemding to get better.)
If you have a problem, work through it...and stand on top of it.
If it isnīt a problem and is just part of you...well, people better learn
to deal with it. ____________________

| Going back to the diagnosis of ADD kids I am currently 18 I have taken rit
sence i was 6 years old. It all started when it took me two years to ger
through kindergarden. So my parents thought i should be checked for mental
disorders. They tested me in every way possable (scared the shit out of
me) Then from first grade on to Sernior year i have taken it. And i
believe that i am one of those people thay need to take it. Oh yeah on the
subject of growth stunting Im currently 6ī2 I would hate to see how big i
would have without it. ____________________

| I have a kid who hasnīt been tested, but Iīm pretty sure sheīs got adhd...
she canīt sit still, she forgets the rules because she gets a thought in
her head and cannot get it out until itīs been acted on, even if itīs a bad
idea and she knows itīs a bad idea... but sheīs very creative, figures
things out well, and (when sheīs interested in something) wonīt stop until
sheīs done it. She canīt stop talking most of the time, and will always
argue the point with you... She drives me up the wall, and itīs very
frustrating to deal with her a lot of the time, she demands lots of
attention, but I will not drug her. For better or for worse, she is who she
is, and as soon as maturity hits, sheīs going to be one extremely
interesting person. Although I do find myself muttering on occasion *10
more years, just 10 more years* Iīd rather her be happy and energetic than
dull-witted and sitting in a corner. I like the drugs for parents of these
children idea... I want energy pills... :-) ____________________

| Here is a new problem that i would like to pose STUPID FUCKING PARENTS.
The type that want to control their kids to the point that they want them
to do the same things they did. Sure in my case its my mom. It like she
fucking resentes me. I think that she is a fucking controling bitch that
has no skill to contribute to the world besides being a massively hanious
bitch 24 hours a day 7 days a week 365 days a year (yes every major
holiday). She sent me away to military school because i refused to play
her fucking game of submission and lemmingism. I am currently 18 years old
and she is insisting on having me and my 17 year old brother have a sitter
when she and my dad go on a vacation in october. You would expect more out
of parents to trust a son that went to military school for four fucking
years. Here is a perfect example of the typical action of her. When i
came home from work today at 11:00 oclock tired as all hell she gave me a
ration of shit because her flower beds wernīt fucking moist when she asked
me to water them at 10:00 AM which i did. When she came home at fucking
6:00 after a leasurly day behind a desk when i hav to make food at a
restraunt for 10 hours at a time with no brakes. Fuck my parents. :evil: ____________________

alriughtie folks.. i do not mean that if you take ritilin your growth WILL
be stunted.. bad side effect for me thats all
and adam.. your so damn fuzzy.. maybe thats what it did to you.. haha
my parents suck too but after a whole bunch of years i got myself taken off
of it because I myself did not note a change.. and I didnt want to become
mush..
im not all onver the place.. i guess iwas once.. but not anymore so i dont
see a need
still dont eat alot.. the ritilin kept me from getting used to eating alot
at one sitting.. i used to sneek food into my room late at night because
thats when i got hungry (thanks a WHOLE lot to whomever prescribed ritilin
to me..) ____________________
