... by Dalton Trumbo.
Has anyone read it?
I'm not through with it yet, and I've been dying to find people who have
read it. The grammar is atrocious--not a comma in sight, but this book is
fucking brilliant! I've actually had physical reactions while reading it.
If there's anyone who's read it, I'd love to know what you think about it.
If anyone is into reading--and I know some of you are--I highly suggest it.
It's been acclaimed as one of the greatest anti-war novels ever written. I
haven't read many anti-war novels, so I don't know how true those claims
are. I can say, though, that despite its original publishing date of 1939,
it's still incredibly relevant.
So, yeah. Thoughts?

I must admit, the first I ever heard of this was the Metallica video for
"One" that was playing on MTV in the late 80's. I resolved to someday see
that movie.
Years later, it was on IFC.
Wow.
It was one of the most incredible movies I've ever seen. It really had an
effect on me. I haven't read the book, but I imagine that it is even more
affecting than the movie was. The movie made me think about a lot of
things.. how really alone we all are inside.
I cried. This movie made me weep like a waterfall.
Damned good stuff. I'll have to check out the book sometime.

At this point, I'm just glad to see some of my peeps who know this book
exists... From the day I picked it up, I started looking for people to talk
to about this book. I definitely want to see the movie when I'm done with
the reading.
My mom reads pretty quickly, and I'm thinking of bringing it 'home' with me
this weekend for my little sister's graduation to see is she feels like
reading it so I can finally discuss it without having to tell the story
first. I don't do the story justice.
