Now, I don’t know your position on the subject, but I am more or less all
for it. I do realize the magnitude of the subject and I’m usually not so
one sided about these things. I stumbled across this (

)video at a party last night. I was wondering what you all think about the
subject. The girl in the video made her opinions rather obvious and
heart-felt, which I respect and found moving in a way.

I'll start right out by saying I am not pro-abortion, but I am pro-choice.
My no-abortion stance applies only to myself... and I know that life is not
so black and white that I would have the right to decide for another person
what they should do or think on this issue... just myself.
I am torn two ways on this video... a.) the pro-abortionist had no legal
right to assault the pro-life woman, no matter what she thought of the
subject matter of her protest... but also b.) I feel for the woman, because
obviously she has very personal feelings on the matter, expressed in such a
way that it seems that either she had an abortion once, or she was close to
someone who had, and knew from the inside how difficult and painful the
decision was, and how strong you have to be to go through with it... and
she probably saw the board as a smug slap in the face...
I do not think that the picture was an appropriate thing for a billboard in
a public place... I would be upset if someone showed that to my daughter...
and I also object to the smug self-righteousness that picketting like that
displays... as I said, I am pro-choice, and I object to all attempts to
steal another person's right to choose how to live their lives (I actually
lean fairly close to being an anarchist for those very reasons... I
definitely prize freedom over security, to an almost extreme degree...)
The whole subject is a sad one and a difficult one... and if you really
care so much about unborn babies, then next time you have a friend who is
considering an abortion, instead of bashing her over the head for thinking
about killing her child, why don't you offer to adopt it and raise it as
your own? Oh wait... that's right... that would actually take real effort
and dedication... I guess that baby's life didn't mean all that much to you
after all... (which is why I find many pro-lifers to be complete
hypocrites... they are more interested in making people feel like shit than
they are in actually doing something practical to save the lives they
scream about... the pro-abortionists may call a fetus a lump of tissue, but
the pro-lifers call it an excuse to judge and belittle others...) ____________________

I don't beleive that I am pro-abortion, because having to raise and take
care of my three sisters, 2 of which are still one and two , makes the
thought of killing a baby born or not, seem in-human to me...
but I suppose that people should choose what they want... but still...
killing an innocent baby, which you brought into the world... I dont know,
it just doesnt seem right to me...
I mean, once it starts growing it is considered a baby am i right? ____________________

My personal view on abortion stems from my personal experience being
pregnant and giving birth... I was very quickly aware of what I felt as a
very separate personality living inside me... regardless of its location or
dependence on me, I could no more kill it than I could kill any other
human... but not everyone feels the same way...
But I do not believe in right and wrong in any sort of cut-and-dried or
black-and-white way... what may be completely wrong for me in my
circumstance may be completely right and in fact necessary for someone
else... I refuse to make blanket statements about people and circumstances
I know nothing about... all I know is myself... ____________________

| i think either of you would agree that in some instances abortion is a very
reasonable option. for instance, if you were raped and got pregnant i doubt
mery much you would want a constant reminder of that experience. thats why
i am pro-choice. there some circumstances that are just beyind the
ordinary. ____________________

There are a lot of experiences that are beyond the ordinary... in my own
experience, I discovered I was pregnant one week after I broke up rather
nastily with the baby's father...
The circumstances behind the creation of pregnancy do not change my view of
the pregnancy itself... to me, I have felt proof in my soul that I was
inhabited by life... and that would not change no matter how that life was
created... however, just because I feel I have proof sufficient for my
decision does not mean that I must force that view and that decision on
anybody else... which is why I am pro-choice.
I am also a firm believer in the value of difficult and painful things.
Unwanted pregnancy can be very difficult and painful... it can also be
extremely valuable... it is not a choice I would ever make for anyone
else... but I am very glad I made the choice I did... even though I ended
up losing my job, my car, and my home... ended up tying myself back to the
child's father in a mistaken attempt to create a healthy family from an
unhealthy relationship... ended up in a world of hurt and difficulty... and
also ended up growing and expanding in ways I never would have if I had
avoided the situation by ending the pregnancy...
This is why I believe it should be a personal choice... pregnancy and
raising a child can be devastating and enriching... the pros and cons
should be weighed in the individual balance... the potential mother-to-be
should search her soul for what she truly believes is happening in her
body... what she truly believes her resources are, and what her goals are,
and make her own choice accordingly... I made my choice, and some might say
it was foolish... but it does not matter as long as I am content and at
peace with my decision. ____________________

Yea that's a good one Feral!
Well I guess on this subject I am going to get a little more personal that
I usually do cause when it comes down to it I really don't care what anyone
else thinks about me.
I found out I was pregnant in Dec. By someone that I had just started
dating In Jan. I got an abortion at 10 weeks. Its a decision that weighs
heavily on my mind just about every day although there was a little bit of
relief. I made a decision that was right for me and my boyfriend. My
boyfriend is a product of foster care and we simply couldn't raise the
child on our own at this point in our lives. I still feel a bit of guilt
about what I have done. The morning of my procedure which only lasts like 5
minutes I think I was the oldest girl in the room that day.
So far that has been the hardest decision that I have had to make and I
have lost good friends because of it. You never know what you would do
until it happens to you. I thought a good deal about keeping it. Before I
had it done the doctors told me that I was at risk for a miscarriage
anyways because I'm RH negative and the stress of my work scheduale. That
didn't really give me too much relief.
I'm still struggling with the what if's of the whole situation....I can't
go back now and I refuse to live with regret.
People can say and do what they think...just because it wasn't right for
you doesn't mean its not right for me. ____________________

See... that is exactly what I mean... my decision is for me alone... you
faced your decision with your eyes open, made the difficult choice, and you
are moving on...
You are right not to live with regret... hold your head high girl - you
faced a tough call - you were decisive, and now you are living life as you
chose it... regrets bring you nothing, absolutely nothing... you are a
responsible adult, and you acted like one...
And honestly, sometimes I could find it in my heart to regret my decision,
as terrible as it may sound... don't get me wrong - my daughter is my
heart... but motherhood is tough, and sometimes I wonder if I am really
suited for it... and it got me into such a mess that I am having a tough
time cleaning up... either way, the decision is tough, and either way,
there are rewards... I did what I felt I needed to, and you did what you
felt you needed to... and that is all anyone should care about...
