Alright. So today I turn thirty. In and of itself I’m rather nonplussed
about the whole thing but I figure I should celebrate it somehow. So I have
decided to sit down and think about the thirty things in my life that at
this time I do not regret. Maybe some day I will be older and wiser enough
to think I should. And, maybe, just maybe I’ll be older and wiser enough to
know better.
The list, in no particular order:
1. Coming to Korea
2. Have sex with a stranger on a train
3. Going to a very small and obscure college
4. Doing my masters degree online
5. Being in a love with a boy
6. Bringing my best friend to Korea
7. Having a gigantic meltdown with the same best friend
8. Tying up girls in a coffee shop
9. The seventeen year old
10. Having sex on tables in the classroom buildings
11. Masturbating at work at every single job I’ve ever had
12. Being molested
13. Cutting my mother out of my life
14. Writing porn
15. Painting naked women
16. Being a clown
17. Working from the age of eight
18. Giving up beef and pork
19. Drinking
20. Adopting the mico-monster dog
21. Quitting a high paying job to take an low paying job
22. Working at an academy that would eventually fire me
23. Korean girlfriends
24. My suicide attempt
25. Being fat
26. Dancing while stoned
27. Cybersex
28. Going more then a week without a shower
29. The unending line of non-functional VW Foxes
30. Those nights I spent as a waitress in a strip club
I’m happy that I can look back on all these things and still smile even
when I think of how foolish some of them are. Feel free to share your own,
even if you aren’t turning thirty. I'm curious to see what sort of things
you all might come up with.

Not true... it is old enough to make stupid mistakes and look back and
say... Fuck...I am smarter than this

good correction, Feral. It is not decreased stupidity, as much as it
increased awareness - both of yourself, and what makes you tick, but also
of your surroundings.
I would not go back to my 20's for the world. I like my 30's, and I'm
actually very much looking forward to my 40's!
And Dom, I will come up with a list eventually - right now my brain is
mush.

WOW Happy Birthday ^____^
I'm not even 20 yet... so I don't really have a whole hell of a lot to
regret... but I don't regret either boyfriend, though it kind of ended with
heartbreak there were lots of good memories.
I don't regret all the money I shouldn't have spent on Dance Dance
Revolution that I did anyway - Love that game.
I don't regret the lack of sleep for over a year sneaking out every
night.
hm... that's all I can think of at the moment
Hope you had a great 30th Birthday!

Thank you all for the birthday wishes.
I must admit that I was pretty reflective through my twenties so I feel
like being thirty is old hat at this point, but if anything it gives me the
authority of being older and wiser. I celebrated my 30 birthday ten year
old style. I invited a bunch of twelve year olds to my party and we played
pin the tail on the donkey, hit a pinata, ate cookies and donuts till we
were sick and watched Wil E Coyote Cartoons. It was probably the best party
I could ask for. Expect it lacked strippers. That would have put it over
the top. Granted that and the twelve year olds probably wouldn't have
mixed, but what can you do.
I promise thirty whacks for everyone! Spankings for all!

Happy Birthday, Dom!
What's to regret really? Live and learn and try not to repeat too many of
the same mistakes too many times, I suppose. I know I've sure learned a lot
since my 30th birthday. I wish you lots of birthday fun!

Happy birthday! This list is awesome. I wish I had done something half this
introspective for my 25th birthday. Alas, all I did was bitch about my grey
hair.

Oh Merry, you can still share, it's your unbirthday, and I must say it is
rather cathartic.

Ever since this forum was posted, I have wanted to make a list of my 30
things I do not regret, since after all, I did recently turn 30 as
well...
I wanted to wait until after my divorce announcement, though... but since
that's all done, I may as well make a start... this is all off the top of
my head, and I have just finished a 4-pack of Kahlua White Russians, and a
large brownie, so my mind is not in the best condition... LOL... so if I am
incoherent, please forgive me!
so... without further ado, Schizo's 30 things she does not regret...
1. having an unplanned pregnancy
2. keeping the baby
3. sacrificing everything for love
4. facing the truth when that love ended
5. always treating my ex like a person, no matter what our relationship
6. acting like a pushy bitch until I found someone to help build my
racecar
7. dancing naked in the moonlight
8. walking around a mountain on a whim
9. rejecting Christianity
10. rediscovering the Divine
11. trusting my intuition with fearlessness when others preached caution
12. daring to relearn love and trust
13. hanging up on my mother when she started preaching to me
14. having the courage to renew old friendships
15. having the backbone to make some enemies
16. taking my Jeep off road and booning it until the wheels fell off
(literally)
17. riding bareback through the woods on a barnsour old nag at break-neck
speeds
18. walking into the ocean at midnight fully clothed
19. walking four miles round trip just to get a chance to practice the
piano
20. taking the chance to take violin lessons, even if I only had a few
21. going down the slip-n-slide drunk at the fourth-of-July party last
summer
22. climbing the mountain in the rain in January last weekend
23. getting piercings
24. getting tattoos
25. standing up to my boss
26. facing my fears of completely trusting another human being
27. going skinny-dipping alone in the moonlight
28. swimming in a mountain stream in January in New England
29. deliberately teaching myself to NOT be invisible
30. taking pleasure in pain

I think my favorite part about doing this list is you don't explain what it
is or why you don't regret it, and I think that is just so very cool.

Wow...
You know Dom, i think I would like to hitch a ride in the back of your
brain for a good chunk of your life just for the run.
Schizo yours reads like a poem...and not a shitty one, which is to say the
only poem I've ever read that i didn't think was shitty.
Very brilliant idea Dom. I've been looking at the impending thirty in the
distance with a skeptical eye as i have never planned on getting this far
nor have I ever wanted to, but this changes my view significantly.
Hopefully I'll be able to post mine own up here.
Also, happy belated!
Sorry I'm behind the times...but Mr. Fusion wont eat the cat.

No worries on the belateds Dolo, always good to know you're out there. You
can hitch a ride on my brain if you like, but I promise it will be bumpy,
probably slippery, and definitely will not end up where it began.
I'm looking forward to seeing your 30's, so you better post em or I'll have
to unleash a horrible army of evil brain eating zombies on you. Or maybe
I'll do the zombie thing as a birthday present....hmmm.....
