Grammatical emotional intensifiers can be a very effective means of sizing
up a personīs background or weltenschauung in a hurry. Damn it.
I was not trying to deride their use, I was simply
interested in where they come from, what they mean, and where I could
procure some for myself. ____________________

I bet you can get them on the internet. You can get anything over the
net...
Oh, and hella is derived from helluva, which is
derived from the full phrase "hell of a" which means a large or intense
x.
Sometimes I wonder if I have become too culture-saturated and am
losing my grammar. I find it hard to say hello or hi (even harder). I
automatically call out "hey" which works, but is not really becoming... But
what the hey...  ____________________

| Yes, it can be a bad thing when we are simply making noises at one another
in lieu of genuine communication. We already use phrases like "Hey, how
are you doing?" to mean "I see you standing there and canīt be moved to
actually communicate anything so hereīs a trite, reflexive cliche that does
not require a genuine response so that we may pretend that we have shared
information with one another and go about our business." Fortunately, I
donīt think that duckspeak has yet become epidemic, but it is something to
watch out for. If "spicing up the language" or "making it less dull" means
sacrificing content, then colour me bland. Boo-yah. ____________________

This is where i cut in..while gratmical emotional intensifiers can be
terribly effective... it is all in HOW something is communicated...
frankly there are some sounds that need no words... and the no linguistic
verbal components of communication are as, if not more, important than the
words one chooses...
I will simply site the word fuck... without the non-linguistic overtones...
this word is useless, but it's emotionality defines the entire sentence...

Well, I'll be damned. This thread again. My very, very first contribution
to this website.
Like an old friend. Who really needs a bath.
Been a long time since March of 20 ought 2. Lot of water under the bridge,
lot of growing and maturing. And I still got no idea what the hell

I bellieve "boo-yah" is some form of onnomonopeia to denote an impact or
explosion of some sort.
I supposed it may also be used as a term for dissatisfaction with divinity.
"Boo" denoting disapointment and "Yah" (sometimes spelled "Jah") a Hebrew
name for divinity. ____________________

Bohu-yath is actually first used in ancient hoary Pnakoptic manuscripts as
a distortion of the name Boshua-Yaggath, a dark and alien god of the other
realm that represented pyrrhic victories and also smoothies, though I am
not sure which kind, mostly probably some sort of cephlapod. During the
migration to northern america by europeans the term was frequently used by
irishmen to signify a resounding blow thrown in fisticuffs or a riot gone
successfully awry. Due to the irish peoples' blasphemously poor english and
ghastly accent the term was often heard as "Boo-yah"
Several non-irish attempted to use the word themselves but each and
everyone disappeared mere hours after witnesses experianced the action. The
final dissemination of this word occured when one O. Walter Freeman, who
was already documented as a daring eccentric and snipe breeder built an
enormous ladder out of lincoln logs and tongue depressors in southern
Maine, of a height that just barely managed to exit our atmosphere. He
climbed aformentioned ladder with a paper bag over his head to serve as a
means of providing oxygen and dropped a rather large rock in the general
vicinity of the british isles. As luck would have it, Ireland was
completely obliterated by this act and sank immediatly to the bottom of the
sea. The Irish people themselves were struck into an obscure fugue and
wandering to their sunken home as if called by perilous writhing voices we
mere mortals are not privy too. When this momentus and historic event
occured, O. Walter Freeman was heard to boom as loud as he could
"Boo-YAH!"
And due to thier disarray, no mysterious consequences could be leveled upon
him by the scary irish.
Thus entering into common parlance, the term "Boo-yah" now literally means
"I just sunk Ireland."
