This is why the world is obese. Bloody industrial paint guns.
Obviously not solely. So many labour saving devices. What was ever wrong
with just a paint brush? 'Oh no, it takes a load longer'
Well, sheeat. I bet you complain that you are bored too don't you.
'I'm too rushed to take my time over some manual labour, but I'm shit-bored
the rest of the time. Oh, I have nothing to do.'
Time was that people used to treasure the time out of their hectic regime
to be able to enjoy such simple, honest tasks. Time to think as you paint,
grab a beer for a break as you wile away a warm afternoon of DIY.....
Oh fuck it, it sounds dull doesn't it. Get fat, you bastards.

coincide with those of the rest of me.] ____________________ Eritis sicut Deus scientes bonum et malum.

I hear you, Wormwood. Damn modern conveniences - they're ugly, noisy, and
obnoxious. Look at a rototiller vs. a plow. Compare the sleek elegance of
the curve of the plow blade to the horrific racket produced by the grinding
and shreiking engine of the rototiller. But of course, the plow takes more
effort and time. Leaving us flabby, and full of energy to waste said time
on updating our blog (instead of scribing a journal on a sheet of linen
paper, methodically dipping the hand-made quill in the well of india ink)
and listening to the latest bands on our surround-sound (instead of weaving
a melody with your own breath and fingers.) Today is all about the
convenience, denying the fact that there is joy in the job itself. Ah, the
old days... *drifts away into a reverie of nostalgia, while typing on her
high-tech keyboard and chowing down on left-over Chinese food heated up in
the microwave*
Modern convenience has made a hypocrite of me. ____________________ "You can tell by the scars on my arms and the cracks in my hips and the

and us all.
But high tech isn't necessarily bad. I never said that, I cannot play a
sonata on my own (well, I can, but it lacks a little something in the
accompaniment department) , and it is much harder to listen for enjoyment
when one is concentrating on so a CD is acceptable. Similarly computers let
us do things that we would never have been able to do before. Like this.
Look, now we don't have to be hypocrites. ____________________ Eritis sicut Deus scientes bonum et malum.

Woody I actually did paint my house by hand two summers ago, and it felt
good to have done it without a sprayer, and to kick back with a beer and
nurse a sunburn.
But as for a plow, girl I know you were being fesecious (spelled?) but
goddamned 20 min of howling noise vs another sunburn and picking up after a
mule...... ____________________ Trapped in time. Surrounded by evil. Low on gas. |

Hey, I used to live in goddamed Amish country, so I know a thing or two
about mules and plows (and the cute farmhands that drive them!) Little
horse-crazy pre-teen that I was wanted to become Amish just for the horses.
And for Ben Beiler - damn if he could hardly speak a word of intelligable
English, but that didn't matter to me. *sigh* ____________________ "You can tell by the scars on my arms and the cracks in my hips and the

All I know is that once you go snow blower you never go back. My snow
shovel became nothing more than a implement to wipe my way to my snow
blower this winter, and I am grateful for that. ____________________ "When choosing between two evils, I always like to try the one I've never

...and its incredible how guys lose their figures after a couple of kids.
I'm impressed by the way that celebrity fathers are able to get back into
shape so quickly........
Starlight - I think that snow and leaf blowers will have to be an
exception to my rule, because quite aside from labour saving facilities its
really fun to blow snow and leaves all over the place. I probably ought to
have posted that on the guilty pleasures board because it is such an
inconvenience to anyone that actually wants to rake leaves and sort the
snow into paths and such... ____________________ Eritis sicut Deus scientes bonum et malum.
