Lets all think about the simpler and finer things in our lives, the small
things
Like a cigarette in a warm bath.
Or maybe a glass of straight burbon on the rocks after a mentally taxing
day.
Or the way you make somone smile.

Great thread!
Holding hands with someone who makes you melt... candlelight... a good,
strong thunderstorm... the aftermath of that storm, when the world smells
fresh and clean... a nice, hot cup of fresh-ground coffee... a stimulating
conversation with friends that lasts for hours... walking through the
woods... walking through the park on a warm summer night... the smell of
fresh-baked bread... the feeling you get when you know you've made someone
else feel really happy... petting kittens and puppies... playing on
playground equipment when you're way too old to be doing so... your best
friend's smile... bubble baths... sweet herbal tea... the first cigarette
of the morning, on the back porch, watching the sun melt away the morning
fog... watching a stupid movie with someone who knows just how to heckle
it... cuddling on the couch... a really good piece of chocolate... gin
mixed with ginger ale... hearing your favorite song on the radio while
driving and singing it loudly because nobody's listening... dancing around
the house while cleaning to music... gettting an unsolicited hug from one
of your kids just because they love you...
I'm nowhere near finished. I'm just out of time.

Some of my favorite things:
Waking up to someone you love on a cold, rainy, gray day on your day off.
Finding a store that carries all the odd things you like. Lazy mornings
with dense fog. The first breeze of daybreak. The morning sun. Slow days at
work. Bathing by candlelight (tisk, tisk, sounding so much like a girl, no
offense)… Free internet porn. Finding kindred spirits at work. Pancakes for
breakfast. Winning important arguments. Midnight drives to nowhere. Chilly
twilights. Bright breezy afternoons. Clear starry night skies. Full moons.
Big full moons. Pumpkin moons. A crisp Halloween night. Autumn leaves.
Eccentric friends. A fast internet connection. Spell check. Whims that work
out. Ilford pearl photopaper. Cult movies. Wandering unfamiliar places.
Finding your old forgotten porno-mags in good condition. Art projects that
turn out better that expected. Knowing of a place you can escape to.
Fireflies at night. Dragonflies on your morning jog. Being known a savior
at your work place. Playing in wide open fields without a worry. Golden,
dreamy, wheat fields with big contrasting green oak trees; dotted like
islands. The smell of old books. Empty abandoned places in the middle of
nowhere. Random hugs. Winning a debate with an idiot. Seeing “Karma” in
action. Cloudy over cast days. Vast pine forests. Rain on your tour of the
Grand Canyon. Smiles from strangers. Not having to wait in line. Stumbling
on a place that looks like it belongs in a classic James Bond film….um I
think that’s enough for now…ohh Cloud watching, and sex.

Busy days at work, laughing until my sides hurt, long conversations with
friends, reading a good book with a big fat purring cat in my lap, that
first cup of coffee in the morning, having the first words I hear in the
morning be "Hi, mommy," making banana pancakes while the little monster
tells me what zombies and pirates say, leaning against the side of a horse
that has been sunning herself, and cool clean sheets wrapped around freshly

Eating a fresh, sun-warmed peach straight off the tree in early
September... or listening to a favorite song on a nice casual bike ride
through the country. That little part of the morning where you just wake
up, and are not quite ready to leave your bed just yet. That little part of
the evening right when you hit the sheets and all the day's burdens just
kinda melt away. Getting a letter in the mail from a friend. Waking up in
the arms of someone you really really think is wonderful. Knowing that
you're special. Stepping outside in the first part of a season (spring,
fall, winter, summer) and feeling the change that has taken place... that
the air is crisper, or warmer, or wetter, or more aromatic... Teaching a
kid something and having them admire you to death for it.
Thank you for such a wonderful idea for a forum! Just thinking about making
this list brightened my evening a little!

The smell of my husband's skin.
The warm rushing sensation that comes with drinking Amaretto di Saronno on

Enjoying a conversation with someone who's views vary greatly from your

The way the air outside feels electric just before a storm hits.
Cats curling up next to you to sleep.

through a horrible predicement, The smell of Absinthe, the taste and

barefoot in the grass in spring, sun rise and sun set, Hot peppermint tea
with lots of honey, the smell of lavender, the look of snow before anyone
has stepped on it, hearing the words I love you, play Doh, cookies, sitting

The first cigarette ina fresh pack
That rise in your blood when you say something to a girl that you haven't
had the courage to say until right then.
The pulse of your heart when she accepts
The dull thud when she doesn't
Making someone laugh until they cry
Making someone whos' crying laugh
Telling a story and catching the hearts of everyone listening in it.
Standing up for something you believe in, and either winning through, or
losing.
Being hated.
Being loved.
Desperately searching through cupboards you know are empty but finding a
hidden can of ravioli in the back.
nice thread, gives some perspective.

Waking up, and praying you can lay in bed for just five more minutes, and
checking the clock and finding out you've got another hour or two!
Spending the last fifteen minutes before you have to leave for work
relaxing with a cuppa and a cigarette.
Finding the perfect comfy spot in bed.
Waking up and finding blue skies and sunshine when it's been raining for
the past week.
Having a cat curl up on your lap and start purring loudly.
Being utterly broke, and finding a tenner in the pocket of a jacket you
haven't worn for months.
Going over to my mum's for Sunday lunch.
Spending hours writing a bit of code, and finally getting everything
working perfectly.

The akward feeling you get when you walk into a new work place, That same
feeling leaving as you start a good convorsation with a five minute
stranger. staying up late and meeting new people over a filling meal and a
good cup of coffee. The tension that fills you as you begin talkting to
some one you desperately wish to know better and getting the chance to.
Having fun with people you don't really know. Making memories with them.
Watching drama coming from a mile away and swiftly ducking away from the
blast zone and diffusing the situation so it can actually be resolved.
Waking up knowing that somewhere, someone really does care about you
Im glad that this is brightening days!!
It renews my hope to know that a idea can reach so far and bring lift to a
otherwise
level moment.
