Absinthe is in a kind of grey area in the US. It's not legal to sell,
that's it. It is however considered a form of alcohol so yoo can bring it
over but only a single bottle (check the exact laws to be certain). ____________________

Yeah, Johnny was doing all kinds of crazy-cute Victorian type drugs in that
movie... I can see where you'd get confused. That's actually the first time
I heard of combining absinthe and laudanaum, especially in such a way. It
doesn't sound terribly safe to me. I thought that opium was in real Greek
Ouzo, too... but it's a very close cousin to Absinthe, as are Chartreuse
and Pernod liquors... and they all have a bit of Thujone in them. Absinthe
has the most, though... ____________________

THANK HELL FOR HBO!!!
I finally realised where I saw/why I thought laudinum is in absinthe!
"From Hell" is on TV again, and tho I know fictional renditions of old
serial killers starring johnny depp is hardly a 100% viable resource, in
that movie when he's in a tub he's got a bottle of absinthe and he does the
strainer with the sugarcube bit and puts three drops of laudinum on the
cube and sets it on fire.
THAT is where I saw it. I think I saw it in a music video YEARS ago too.
Duh, I'm such a screwball.
I get it now *lol*

Hm, Meranda, I may be thinking this whole thing up in my overactive head,
but I DO SWEAR that laudinum gets into it SOMEHOW. Thought THAT was what
made it illegal, but I'm trying to think of where the laudinum comes in.
Perhaps I'm thinking of what they do when they put the strainer on top, put
a couple drops of (laudinum?) on the sugarcube, light the fucker on fire,
and it melts INTO the absinthe.
I swear I'm not making it up (that's what I tell myself anyway!) and I KNOW
that I've read this somewhere, now I just can't figure it out straight.
*sigh*
I'm gonna go dig on "absinthe useage" on the internet and see what I come
up with.
I was SURE that there was a diff between absinthe and wormwood. Perhaps
when they made it "illegal" someone made a knockoff that didn't have the
psychoactive properties and sold it as "absinthe".
Beh I don't know. My wheels are gonna be turning on this all friggin night
now *lol*

It's legal to buy it from someone in a country where it is legal to sell
it. The wormwood is an herb that is part of what goes into the making of
Absinthe, and contains thujone, which is the stuff that has psychoactive
properties. The wormwood is what makes the legality of the stuff
questionable. there is no laudanaum or any other opium product in it.
Thujone is considered an unsafe food additive, not a drug. Therefore, while
it's illegal to make it in the U.S., it's okay to buy it from somewhere
else. ____________________

I am pretty confident that absinthe is quite legal in the states, only a
tad hard to get as there isn't a huge demand for it. It's when you make
wormwood (absinthe+laudinum I believe?) that it's illegal because it
contains narcotics. ____________________ Trapped in time. Surrounded by evil. Low on gas. |

I'm coming. I'm saving
A few notes:
1) ALL EUROPEANS PLANNING TO COME PLEASE CONTACT ME. We can get much
cheaper tickets by getting group discount and many transatlantic flights
have a tech stop in Madrid.
2) I CAN DRINK ANYONE UNDER THE TABLE, Jesus's first and last miracles have
to do with alcohol. And you forget something: I am Spanish. The only people
who allegedly can drink more a night than us are the Irish, and I havenīt
met anyonme who could drink me put. And don't say you are a sailor, Morte,
Dolo or KatB. Somethings just run in the blood...
3) What to do: Wanna go to an American goth club. MUST go to an American
goth club. Drinking contest seems fine, but we should do it after we have
gone to the goth club. I would like to cast a Queimada and invite you all
to drink it, I thought I once posted about it, it's an old spell with Kelt
roots and blazing alcohol involved. Besides all that a "Letīs seduce the
Catholic guy" contest would be appreciated
4) Question: Anyone has an idea how can I smugg... err... bring some
Absinthe bottles from Spain? Nothing as gothic as Absinthe, not even thar
Chartreuse thing. Shade what about toy dolls. Pleeeeease? |

As I have not been a member here, even 24 hours I can't say that I would
go, I do know however that for the people close to LA there is BatsDay at
Disneyland on August 24th of this year. Not sponsored by Disneyland, last
year there were about 200 gothy types, and people can bring their families
as well, which for some might be nice.
I do think that New Orleans would be the perfect place for such an event,
but as I am in Washington state the commute is a bit far.
I wish you all luck with this! ____________________ I am a little black rain cloud. |

no it wont be posted to this forum, or any other. The information will be
sent to each person that RSVPs. I will have the dates solidified shortly so
that people can ask for those days off. ____________________ Real goths wear silver and crosses to keep the werewolves and vampires

callei will there be definite dates and how to get a room at the hotel
everyone is staying at and all that posted here on this forum? (Once
vacation time gets requested it's not changeable is why I'm asking.) ____________________ "When choosing between two evils, I always like to try the one I've never

Kat, I most likely won't be attending, but someday girl, I WILL DRINK YOU
UNDER THE TABLE! I'm small, but I have hollow legs, and after a few drinks
I tend to lose count and just keep on going until I can actually hear the
toilet callin my name *lol*
I've even put my sister down and out before, and she's about five years
older than me and started drinkin EARLY. Someday Kat, I'll have a
doubledog dare just WAITING for you! But until then, I'm officially
"training" *ha* ____________________ Trapped in time. Surrounded by evil. Low on gas. |

Holy Shit! Its been so long since I've been here..... all my messages say
2002 or something...... Damn....
Okay, I saw Shmeng party, and was instanly drawn to it. I haven't read the
whole thing yet because I'm so lazy, but I will eventually. Anyway, I'm
located in Atlanta GA, and would travel long distances to meet people I
respect and admire.
And on a parting note, before I read four pages of other people's party
ideas.....
