I know someone here knows the answer to this, and I probably should, but
I've never really thought about it.
What do you use to get nasty shmengy hoobiejoobies out of things? Sage
works wonderfully for spaces - like rooms and stuff where you're trying to
chase them out of an open space - but what if it's a thing and not a
space.
What I'm talking about specifically is a guitar amp I have. Whenever I
play through it, I think nasty violent thoughts that are SO not mine. I
bought it as a return, which means even though it was new, someone else
owned it for up to 30 days - and I have a feeling that person was not warm
and fuzzy.
Normally when stuff like this happens it's because of a person that was in
my space before I got there, and sage works beautifully for flinging them
out. But I've never had icky stuff in a THING of mine, and I'm not quite
sure what to do. Normally I would just play thru it for a few months and
make friends to rub my voodoo all over it. But that's not a pleasant
thought in this case.

Well crud...if I'm not using sage for something, I usually do a mineral
bath/rinse. Obviously that won't work here. I would recomend sage anyway,
seeing how it is like the color-safe bleach of the spiritual world. The
cool stuff stays, the stains leave.
You can use it on objects, via the usual smudge, or by leaving bundles of
it on the object for a bit to soak up the grodiness, then discarding those
bundles through your choice of method.
Another thing I would honestly suggest is a thourough cleansing of yourself
as well. You might have something riding you that is specifically reacting
to whatever this thing is giving off. God knows what you might have picked
up off this thing. Any clingies could seriously screw up not only the
music, but everything else.
I had this great thing in my head about energy/vibe/aura A not meshing with
B, wheras C would have been inert...but it sounded a lot better in my head
than when I had written it out. I'll just leave that brief mention and let
you work out what you feel is best. When it comes down to it, you have to
deal with the nasty in the way that you know you can. Sheer forces of will,
stuff like that. ____________________

| sage works wonders on just about anything...i suggest you cleanse yourself
in a nice bath and what not and meditate to purify your mind and
stuff...and then try burning some cinnamon, frankincense, gardenia, or
sandlewood incense and a black candle around the amp for 3 nights and dont
blow out the candle(s) at night, snuff them out and at the end of third
night bury the left over wax..to banish the negativity.... ____________________

As a thought, soak some cloth in heavily salty water and once it's dry
enough to not worry about drips in the electrics, wrap it around the
incoming and outgoing wires. Salt is a general cleanser and binder so with
it set up in circles around all ports of entry/egress (ie: the electric
coming in, the sound going out, the signal going in from the guitar) then
you should be getting clean signal on all ends. ANd the salt should imbue
the signal so that in a day or three the energy filling the box should be
cleansed and actually cleansing and you should be able to take off the
wraps and have a clean slate to work with, just make sure you are in a
yummy frame of mind when you first use the amp after taking off the wraps
since nature abhors a vacuum and that thing will suck up whatever vibe it
can get it's hands on.
The reason I'm thinking salt instead of sage tea soaked rags is that salt
is very close to elecrticity and in many cases is used in some form to
generate elecxtricity (our bodies need electroytes, or salt to generate the
electricity we use internally) so the principle of similarity should hold
true. Theoretically this should work, in practice I have never had occasion
to try it, but if it helps, good vibes from here as well! ____________________

Sheesh...now I'm gonna sound like one of "those people"...
You probably put it better than I would have anyway, so props brotha' .
And devin, if that doesn't work, see if you can get it to do tricks, then
you could sell it on ebay like the haunted jar and haunted pocketwatch.
Those brought big money, you know? *wink wink*

bless it in whatever way is appropriate to you, and dip your finger in it,
and use your finger to draw on the amp whatever esoteric symmbol works best
for you as a banishing device. ____________________

all of the above and here's more....highly recommend purifying yourself
first in order to clear your mind.
you could try collecting rain water on a saturday during the waning moon.(
there is alot of energy in rain) saturday is excellent for getting rid of
stuff. then once the salt is consecrated you could try mixing the two
and maybe mix sage in the mixture and then sprinkle it around the amp and
any guitars or cords that have been contaminated . while you are doing
this it might be a good idea to burn an incense like lavender. it is great
for pacifying angry energy. it might be a good ideal to burn lavender while
playing just in case. (to protect you from those angry,violent thoughts) ____________________

| When I've gotten something with some serious heebie geebie crud attached to
it I do a mixture of a few things. Salt will work well if there's nothing
too major going on, but when there's crud going on I mix the following
together: Copal (very protective and can help to break spells), Benzoin
(drives off evil spirits and vibes), Frankincense (very protective and
helps to put your own vibes into something), Cinnamon (Very protective and
promotes good fortune), and a little salt thrown in as well. I grind it up
in a bowl (can use a mortar and pestle if you have them, otherwise a bowl
and spoon work well. The Copal, Frankincense and Benzoin I get as natural
incense from a local store, and the Cinnamon and salt as kitchen spices. I
then sprinkle some of the mixture over the objects with the cruddy feelings
coming from them and it usually solves the problem for me. ____________________

not to go against conventional wisdom here, but try asking it to leave. It
may not want to be there either. unplug it from everything, make a circle
around it with salt, put a bit of yarrow in side, break the circle and say
leave. tosss the yarrow out. Make sure a window is open for it.
If it were jsut residual yuck from a someone else, it would have mellowed
out by now in your house. So its more likely to be an unwanted visitor. and
letting it go may let it go back to where it it supposed to be. ____________________

serious cleasnser, if you want to get it out without hurting it, asking the
heebie jeebie to go would prolly be a better approach. ____________________

Hmm...
I tend to like the anger and venomous residue that sticks to the various
things I use when pissed off.
Take for instance, my spikey beaty stick, I like picking it up and being
pissed. That's what it's there for, it's the only purpose it serves. I
wouldn't want to pick it up and be all happy flowers and bunnies. ____________________

I don't know if you are much into candle magick, but given the nature of
this beast (a guitar amp) you might try this:
Buy some large jar candles (the kinds you can get a the grocery store in
the spanish foods section work wonders) one black and one white. Consecrate
the black candle with oil (lavender would be ideal) and light it while
focusing on the heebie jeebie creature. Meditate on the burning candle and
help it pull the jeebies out of your amp and into the candle as it burns
down. Let it burn continually until it burns out, could take several days,
so put the amp and candle in a safe place. When it burns out completely
place some salt and sage in it and bury it.
When this is finished take a white or blue candle (concsecrate it in your
favorite mellow oil) and cleanse the air in the area. Place the candle on
the amp and light it. Meditate on all the happy flower feelings you'd like
the amp to have. Meditate on the burning candle and help it draw the energy
into the amp, rather than out of it. This would be a good time to burn some
sage, too. When this candle burns all the way out fill it with water and
flowers for a few days and it should clear nasties up, while brightening
your decor.
Candle magick can be good for getting nasties out of things, particularly
mechanical, I had a nastycomputer. once and this worked wonders. ____________________
