research ive been working on. the only people who seem to know anything
about the subject are goths or occult-interested people.
the topic is ring, more-so the curse of sadako.
a 7 day death wish, cause by viewing a videotape.
ive begun my research because such a tape seems to have surfaced in north
carolina and california.
does anyone have info or can enlighten me on the subject? ____________________

Have no idea what you guys are talking about.
Probably bunk.
Urban legend.
Youīll have better lucky searching for the loverīs lane escaped serial

Lots of stuff about the occult is legend, and bunk bunk bunk. Like the
necronomicon. And the fist of glory (no fisting jokes, kids, Iīm serious)
and all that jazz.
Bunk. Donīt waste your time.

But Bettie, the Necronomicon canīt be bunk, I mean, what about all those
little kiddies that use it to summon the old ones in their parents
basement. Surely they are actually talking with Marduk and not dancing
around naked for nothing. And just look at how much trouble it caused for
Ashe. ____________________ Sometimes I dream about dinosaurs shopping for cargo shorts at the Gap.

OK; I know this is somewhat dead, but I chanced upon somethig intresting at
Castel Drackula:
- Ring - UK DVD - When it comes to Asian cinema, unless itīs a Cat III
gore-fest, Iīm not reallythat interested. Itīs not that I have anything
against Asian or Japanese cinemain particular, itīs just that when I have
to sit down and study subtitles towatch a film, itīs rare my attention span
will hold. Thus the atmosphere islost. One film that breaks that mould
though, is Hideo Nakataīs "Ring". Or givingit itīs proper Japanese title
"Ringu". Based on a novel by Koji Suzuki, it tells the story of an urban
legend concerninga mysterious video tape. A tape that when viewed, shows
nothing more than a couple of minutes of some very surreal images. Once the
tape finishes the viewer of the tapes telephone rings. When they answer it,
they hear only a strange noise for a couple of seconds and then the line
goes dead. At that precise moment but a week later, the viewer of the tape
mysteriouslydies, from what appears to be sheer terror. Reiko, a female
journalist, hears about and decides to investigate this urbanlegend
believing it will make a good story. Upon some investigations, she manages
to track down and visit a cabin wherethe inhabitants had supposedly watched
the tape and mysteriously died a weeklater, as in accordance with the
"legend". There she finds a tape, with no indication of whatīs on it she
watches it.Finding it contains nothing more than just a couple of minutes
of some strange, nonsensical footage she removes the finished tape from the
machine. As she ponders her next move the phone rings. Instinctively she
answers itonly to be greeted by what seems to be a noisy, obviously faulty
line. Coupleof seconds later and the line goes dead... So as not to spoil
any surprises, that is where I shall leave the premise ofthe story. This is
truly a genuinely creepy film. Even following subtitles, it still does not
fail to give you an uneasy feeling. The picture of the DVD, though nothing
special, is clear and still better thanwatching a video. The picture is in
anamorphic widescreen. Even though the audio is not in Dolby Digital, it
still conveys itself verywell. The extraīs are also nothing special, but
still nevertheless worth a look. Thereīs the UK trailer for this film and
"Ring 2", itīs sequel. Thereīs a review of the film by Mark Kermode, stills
gallery and star and director filmographies. Surely the best feature of all
though must be the ability to actually watchthe footage from the "cursed
tape". After watching the film, I challenge anyone to watch this special
feature andnot take a glance at their telephone when itīs finished. Finally
a word of advice, this can easily be a stand alone film, so avoid
thesequel, it tries to give everything a scientific explanation. I will not
comment on "Ring 0", a recently released prequel as Iīve yet tosee it.
There are various other versions of the film too such as a Korean and a
mini-series version, though I havenīt seen them, word is this is the best
version. When I heard Hollywood had decided to make a version, I cringed. I
could see a genuinely creepy film having itīs reputation tarnished
allbecause Hollywood has completely lost itīs way in the world of horror
because of all itīs "Scream clones". I envisioned it taking one of the most
original horror movies in years andturning it into another watered down,
shadow of itīs former self. Though Iforget who is at the helm of the
remake, I must bow before him and admit I am wrong. All reports of early
screenings are saying the same thing. It hastaken the original, changed the
odd bit of the story here and there, setting and characters for instance,
but it still does the original justice and forthe first time in years, made
a truly unsettling horror movie. This time, not because of gore, there is
none, but because it really is a "scary movie". Just remember before you
watch it though, take the phone off the hook. Reviewed By Dracula

Iīm not an expert or anything but given my studies there is no Necronomicon
as such, it is merely a creation of Lovecraft. It does seem as though
Lovecraft did his homework and the Necronomicon is based on factual
material although no one specific grimoire. If anybody wishes mee to
continue I will but itīs a bore I wonīt write it unless asked. ____________________

Oi, okay, but donīt say I didnīt warn yoo.
Well for starters anyone with a casual familiarity with contemporary
Hermetics will instanlty recognize that Lovecraft was either EXTREMELY
well-read in the Occult or that he was an initiate of the Mysteries (this
seems the most probable but I can find no direct evidence of his belonging
to any Order Masonic, Rosicucian, Theosophical, or otherwise, meaning if he
belonged to any Order it would have most likely been small and isolated).
This can be observed in the obviously distorted names of spirits
(Metraton=Metatron for example), the common behavior of many Lovecraftian
dieties with the office of various Western dieties
(Nyarlathotep=Hermes/Thoth/Mercury for example), and the vague asumption of
Occult mechanics.
So then we come to what is called the Necronomicon. Letīs start-off by
refering to it as Lovecraft himself described it. Thus it was not inked in
blood and bound in flesh. It was originally written by Abdul Alhazred
under the title Al Azif (a title which is supposed to mean something along
the lines of the calls of nocournal insects which the author refered to as
the screaming of the dead). I have yet to see any record of "Abdul
Alhazred," the "Mad Arab," the "Mad Poet," or "Al Azif" dated previous to
the 20th Century (and yes, I have looked).
Next we have a genuine clue as to what the Necronomicon might be.
Lovecraft claims that the book fell into the hands of Dr. John Dee. John
Dee was a historical figure of prominence in Elizabethan England known for
being a master mathametician, cartopher, cryptographer, astrologer, and
"wizard." The book to consult here is "A True and Faithful Relation of
what Passed for Many Years Between Doctor John Dee and some Spirits" by
Meric Causabon (I paid $80 for a facimile of the original edition prinited
on one of the first printing presses ever made) which is a collection of
Deeīs diaries from the 16th Century.
The story goes like this, Dee was a man a terrific wisdom but little Occult
"power" so he teamed-up with an Alchemist named Sir Edward Kelly who scryed
(acted as a "Medium") as Dee spoke and recorded the conversations with
certain "Angels." These Angels delivered a system of "Magic" which was
called Angellic and later renamed "Enochian" because it was supposed to
have been used by the Biblical Enoch to transcend into the Merkabah.
The Most notable aspect of Enochian Magic is the bizarre language the
incantations (known as "Keys") are in. A definate language with itīs own
syntax, the words are extremely difficult for the average person to
pronounce (much like the bizarre words and names in Lovecraftīs works).
Each word in Enochian is supposed to be enough that when pronounced will
stir-up energies one may not be prepared for.
Thus Lovecraft seems to mee to have been inspired by the Enochian system
(which is certainly alien but not dark or evil) along with other classical
grimoires (I would assume the darker ones such as the Goetia, the Grand
Grimoire, the Grimoire of Pope Honorius, etc.) and no one specfic
grimoire.
Oh crap I know Iīve got more to say on the subject but I really am getting
tired. ____________________

Well, I have something to add...
If this tempted anyone to dabble with Enochian, please take it easy. If
you must, take it really slow, start at the beginning, and it is absolutely
preferable to have somebody experienced to help you. I have seen good
people go more or less nuts after getting in too deep too fast. This is
not a game, and should not be taken lightly upon. ____________________ All stressed out and no one to choke...
