Hey everybody, thank you darkly for the generous welcome. Since I´m not
much to post topics or replys to whichever forums I join into. I´ll make
use of my presence at the moment by asking what the general thoughts and
feelings are concerning Cradle of Filth in this forum. I´m a really big
fan, and im not one to let my opinions to be ruled by others...but like I
said I´m just curious. I´m not closed on black metal only(even though I
listen to alot of it) I like all kinds of other goth like mephisto walz,
lacrimosa, fields of the nephilim and nosferatu and some industrial. It
does bother me somewhat that their growing mainstream here but it doesn´t
stop me from listening to them. Well thats my thought for the day,
good-bye ____________________

don't get me started on creed. Nickelback I can just do without, creed?
*boil*
I remember hearing he beat up a heckler at a show when the guy yelled out
"you should have stuck with pearl jam!" in reference to the fact that a
zillion people make fun of him for trying to sound like eddie vedder. ____________________ Trapped in time. Surrounded by evil. Low on gas. |

You know, i've never wished death upon a band before, but Nickleback just
ticks me off...it was that fuckin' song they did for spider-man that
started the whole thing for me. eversince i heard Creed broke up I've been
ever so happy....now if only Nickleback and Mudvayne would just do the
same. ____________________ "It is a fool's prerogative to utter truths that no one else will speak." ~

I can't stand the radio anymore either. Our local 80's station is pretty
good, but sometimes it's just so much crap. Nickelback can shove it. I
was over them before anyone in that group ever picked up a guitar. I
especially hate that song from the first spiderman he did with that wierdo
idiot from saliva. ____________________ Trapped in time. Surrounded by evil. Low on gas. |

aaaahahahahaha you have to sit through MUDVAYNE!!!!
I was going to go to a rammstein show a year or so ago, but it was one of
those "block" concerts where 8 bands were playing in succession, and i
didn't feel like standing in a crowd full of numetal douchebags and
suffering through mudvayne, system of a down (i fucking hate that goddamned
band with a FUCKING PASSION), and slipknot hoping that the rammstein show
would be worth it.
I remember joking about who was going to open for bauhaus years ago. Love
and Rockets, Tones on Tail, or Peter Murphy. ____________________ Trapped in time. Surrounded by evil. Low on gas. |

People need to mellow out and just enjoy the fucking music. Fuck, I used
to be like that ya know, pissed when a small show band would do big venue
stuff, but now I don't give a rats ass. Get over it, enjoy the music, and
be happy for them. If you don't like them anymore, don't listen to them or
buy their stuff, but stop bitching. ____________________ "People always say what we are looking for is a meaning for life…I don't

I know that drives me NUTS. Oh, and if they have an excellent
merchandiser, and have lots of merchandise available at a retail level,
then they're a sell out too. Or if they're a progressive band and
incrimentally change their sound, then take a leap into the direction
they're going they're sellouts.
I had a girl in my store the other day who was going OFF on the misfits
because we carry a lot of misfits stuff (a lot of cool shit might I add)
and how what a bunch of sell outs and who did they think they were and how
it's not like danzig was even in the band anymore blah blah blah and then
looked at me like I'd agree with her. I said "OH! I'm sorry, hot topic is
THAT way." (couldn't help it).
People are doing the same to AFI. I for one, LIKE AFI, liked them as a
hardcore band and even more as what they've become. People HATE the fact
that they're successful, and that they're no longer a "hardcore" band, but
a blend of hardcore psychobilly spook-rock, which is the direction they've
been headed in for 6 years or so. They've "sold out". K. Hardcore kids
are the worst "sell-out" mongers by FAR. They're gluttons for sell out.
They bitch about how they can never find cool "hardcore/straight edge"
stuff anywhere, so a company starts doing just what they want and then they
get all mad about how "corporate" it is. I hate hardcore kids worse than
hardcore dancing, and the two go hand in hand.
Oh, and add AFI "black sails in the sunset" and "sing the sorrow" to my
list of good shit. ____________________ Trapped in time. Surrounded by evil. Low on gas. |

seeee... I never undedrstood the whole selling out thing... I mean 1) the
band signed the fucking contract to staart with... and 2) how can you judge
whether one is a sell out unless you know what they actually fucking
believe in the first palce? ____________________ The earth turns on a tilted axis - just doing the best it can.

That is true feral, but the kids that insist that once "their" band
(they're so posessive!) is played on something other than a college radio
station that has the bandwidth of my bra strap, they've "Sold out" or "gone
corporate".
To all the pseudo underground pinchpricks out there, get a life. Those
bands aren't "yours", they're not there for you to see at $3 a head while
they travel in a broke ass van to play the dives you think are cool. Yes,
that part of the music industry is important, and you will never find more
lasting and dedicated musicians than the ones that did the long haul road.
But *knock knock* HEELLOOOOO they're in it to make a living out of it. To
make money by doing something they love, which is what most of us DREAM
about. It's a band, but it's a business. I've never seen such a hateful
group than "underground" kids....they've got to be some of the only fans of
anything on the face of the earth that wants their favorite band or artist
to "fail" so they get the pleasure of keeping them to themselves, or risk
the "sellout" label. Fuck you guys. ____________________ Trapped in time. Surrounded by evil. Low on gas. |

mainstream = bad is really quite simple... when, in four hours time, I hear
the same band more than 5 times on the same station or the same song 3
times in hte same time period, they are overplayed.. the mainstrream tends
to overplay overrated bands while the REALLY good ones sit on the
sidelines...
thank god COF is not at ozzfest today ____________________ The earth turns on a tilted axis - just doing the best it can.

What I like is local bands, or bands that are still trying to make it. They
show alot of love and passion, and thats what makes them great to watch and
listen to. Becoming main stream is great, if thats what they want. Not all
mainstream stuff is bad. ____________________ Guns are good, Guns are great...Kill the people that you hate! |

i ever actually understood the whole 'mainstream is bad' thing. i admit
that the muso inside me loves to know of a band that noone else does, but
then again i hate most of the wank that costitutes popular 'music' at the
moment so any of the bands that i love becoming mainstream would be a great
thing, more people would listen to them for a start so i could have icarus
line blaring at me from pasing cars rather than the streets and such
horrors as the so solid crew. if they still exist. also, a band becoing
mainstream makes more room in the underground for something new to come
through in a market with a new hole at the top, and gives us a perfect
oppertunity to search out a loverly new underground band and be the envy of
all our equally sad friends. just so long as the band stays the great band
it was and doesnt get corrupted, so yes, cradle of filth do have their
place in bringing mainstreamness to an underground genre. i still dont like
them much though.

...dude....you got SERVED *giggle*.
CoF has their place...they brought blackmetal into more "mainstream" ears,
just as Bon Jovi brought hair metal into the mainstream, and as much as
people hate to admit it, mainstream helps the "underground"....financially,
that is, and attracts more potential fans who would normally be too wary or
uninformed to discover the heavier stuff if not for the "lighter" surface
floaters. They're alright kids...but they seriously need to lay off the
D&D.
