Actually, Iīm a Visigoth, but thatīs just me Kira.... Naming and
categorizing is one of the 12 "sins" on the wheel of life which keeps your
soul on earth, instead of moving on, at least according to some.
I figure no matter how you look, various people will judge you - to some
you may be ubergoth, to others a poseur, to yourself and your true friends
and those who can actually see a person, you are you, no matter what you
wear or listen to. ____________________

My guide to being a Goth:
1. A healthy disregsrd for all the good performed by society.
2. A belligerent attitude towards anybody whose opinions on any subject
disagree with your own.
3. The ability to assume you can change who you are by the clothes you
wear.
This above all to thine own self be true. And it must follow as the night,
the day. Then thou canst not be false to any man. My blessings season this
in thee. ____________________ Light is changing to shadow, and casting a shroud over all we have known. |

Your name is a label so in reality you arenīt above labeling. And besides
saying Iīm just "me" is a label. Your labeling yourself as....yourself.

My theory is this...
Iīm "goth" because thatīs the closest thing to what I am that allows people
to leave me alone and stop asking questions they donīt want to know the
answers to.
Yes, I wear almost entirely black, but thatīs more because it looks good on
me and because you can make some kewl shit with black fabrics. Itīs also
extremely functional when you do theatre for a living.
But I think being *gother than fuck* is something that youīre born with. I
know people that call themselves goth but arenīt, and people who donīt call
themselves goth but are. Itīs a way of life, of looking at the world.
Beauty is key. I think thereīs a lot of darkness and a facination with it
too, but thatīs at different levels and focuses with everyone.
Goths are people who can sit down, appreciate a long winter sunset with a
cup of tea...
and go hang out until 5am talking with friends afterwards...
then create something out it.
Right. So why didnīt I just say that in the first place? ____________________ I have the heart of a small boy... in a jar, on my desk. |

I dont know..I would say I have a gothic personality. But, I still chose
to wear all-black and wear my black makeup..but thats me..I always liked
black for as long as I can remember. My gothic is what is inside me and my
natural born taste for black clothing etc. just goes with it. I was always
different as a young child, never played at those playgrounds with the
other children. I never did any of that stuff, I was always happy doing my
own thing and not having to compete with others. Grade school was terrible
and I'm not going to go into it. High school i have alot more respect.
Being the only dark outsider in school, people dont know whether to talk to
me and be my friend, or be afraid of me. It doesn't bother me that I dont
have many friends in school..I never did anyway. I dont care what people
label me as..they can label me as they wish. It wont stop me from following
my own path. ____________________

I am Goth because I eat gruel, walk around in large semi-nomadic groups,
rape & pillage, smell bad, live in Germanic forests, speak a dead tongue,
and fight with neighboring tribes (but especially established
civilizations). I am Goth as Fuck. I'm also Hun as Fuck, and Frank as Fuck.
Unfortunately I am not Druid as Fuck..... ____________________ The OBOLISK is Divine. |

I want you to take me to funky town baby...to funky toooown...
*busts a groove*
I think my all time fav disco song is "it's raining men". I can't get over
it...especially since rupaul charles did that cover with martha washington.
I got this thing for smokin' towering bitchass diva dragqueens.
I remember rupaul teaching jenny mccarthy how to "WALK like a diva honey"
and her teevee show where she did an interview with cyndi lauper...who was
7 months pregnant and wearing sassy stilletto heels! |

My personal feelings on being goth or not is this:
If you feel you are goth...you are goth.
It comes from within...not from a list of what any one person or group
decides is the right way to be a goth...or what qualifies you to be a
goth...or having some sort of goth creditials...sheesh...I could go on and
on with that. As it happens though, it seems a lot of the time there are
some things that a lot of...not all mind you...but a lot of people who feel
they are goth will have some things in common...whether it be a penchant
for dark clothing...a liking for certain genres of music or poetry...or
simply feeling that they are forever meant to feel somewhat victorian
inside...it could be any multitude of things or just one single thing...not
on any list or test anywhere...that says...you know what...I am goth...I am
how I have always been and always will be...which is true to myself...not
to a trend...but to myself...I like what I like...for my own reasons...I
listen to what music I like...because I like how it sounds or makes me
feel...I wear what I want to wear...because it feels good on me...because
it soothes my soul...because it reflects my mood...or just because maybe
sometimes I like to express just how unique I am in my own right...goth is
in your soul...and everyone who considers themselves to be goth
inside...can choose to either reflect it outwardly to others by dress or
demeanor...or to not to reflect it at all or only sometimes...goth is what
you make it...
Another fine point that I feel is important to make is this:
it seems that no matter how antisocial or social of an animal we
are...goths do tend to in some way gravitate towards other goths...maybe
they feel they are understood better by others with similar beliefs...or
disbeliefs for that matter...but the gravitational effect is there...this
thread on this message board...is proof of that...so if you wonder if you
are goth...well you are probably on some level at least part goth...if you
are here... ____________________ "When choosing between two evils, I always like to try the one I've never
