ROFL=rolling on the floor laughing.
Of course, maybe there's another acronym out there that is the same.

I don't know, St Anger seems to be the best "anti-downloading theft" device
out there since it sucks so bad. ____________________

Hmm. That's a very good point in that article, Devin.
And since Shakespeare is mentioned in this forum, I will quote from one of
his plays concerning the lawyer issue: "The first thing we do...let's kill
all the lawyers."
I never thought all the lawyers were bad, but it is true that they get most
of the money out of the suing crap going on out there...hence it's probably
why a lot of people who should be taking responsibility are able to get
away with more than often.

you know what is really killing music?
ill give you a clue, its not my filesharing software...
another clue is that it isnt anyone elses filesharing software.
here it is: SHIT MUSIC. talentless or halfwitted arseholes with their
voices pumped through filters singing songs that someone shat onto a lyric
sheet using the same beat as the last one.
competetitions to find someone else to spew out retarded banalities and be
the new pinup for a record company and the pittances being paid to the up
and coming groups with low saleabilty but high musical talent who end up
falling into obscurity.
i dont buy music anymore because nine times out of ten i am disappointed by
yet another pile of unmusical garbage.
the other thing that pisses me off is napster. was it part of the deal that
its creator, unable or unwilling to get over the demise of something that
essentially started a revolution, should start ripping off people who
supported this peice of kit by recycling a peice of software whose only
real relationship to the legendary napster of old is that it involves the
internet?
bah humbug. the day the rich prove themselves worthy of their wealth. the
day a record company becomes successful through musical principles. the day
someone stands up and says 'actually, although you would sell well, you are
really shit so we arent going to sign you.' that is the day that i stop
stealing music from the internet. ____________________ Eritis sicut Deus scientes bonum et malum.

ummm... music isn't the issue... it is the industry built around it...
music is alive and well...
it burns my hide to hear people call a band talentless just because they
don;t like the songs, style or one of the performers... there are a few out
there that have no talent, but on the whole they all ahve talent of one
form or another... they may have no originality, but they DO have talent...
or skill... the two are completely different.. ____________________ The earth turns on a tilted axis - just doing the best it can.

Agree with both of you. Music of many types is alive and well, its just the
corps and bigwigs being penny-pinching pilfering bastards as usual. They
hate it when something is popular but they can't make money out of it.

i still dont quite understand the whole controversy over downloading music.
counterfeit copy's of c.d's is still much larger of a problem and has been
a problem for much larger of a time. sure napster and kazaa or whatever
your using to get music may take some money away from music but
counterfeit cd's take billions away from the industry. outside of north
America 1 of 3 cd's is a fake. ____________________ fucking classy. |

The effect of capitalism upon music is the same as the effect of capitalism
upon anything else.
When you say "capitalism", you could as easily say the word "digestion".
This is a process in which raw material in one form or another is subjected
to a process whereby the vital materials are extracted from it (in the case
of digestion, the vital materials are nutrients. In the case of
capitalism, it is money) and then a final product is left behind (In both
cases, the final product is crap). It is no accident that we refer to this
process as "consumerism".
In the process of digestion, the consumer is a single individual. Microbes
and bacteria are then left to enjoy the waste product. In the process of
capitalism, the real consumers are the very, very wealthy, and you are the
microbes and bacteria.

no offense, man... but untill the human factor is out of it... there is no
way for ANY governmental system, in spite of the paper aspects of it, will
be good or work well... Personally, IMHO, socialism is the best... but
human considerations still fuck it up...
we all accept that capitalism is the great devil... but it will not be
changed... so we are going to be under it for a long while...
Pale... that has always been a problem, but that is a rarity within US
borders... but here is the real issue... the cd costs 12 cents... the
dubbing is 23 an hour producing about 700 copies in an hour... printing is
about 43 cents per cd at bulk... and the finished product is 15-25 a
peice... doesn't add up... ____________________ The earth turns on a tilted axis - just doing the best it can.

feral: "we all accept that capitalism is the great white devil... but
it will not be changed... "
How very telling. In another forum (regarding the 2004 election), you are
vociferous about not sitting back and taking a bad thing. Still being
vociferous simply amounts to talk, talk, talk. Bitching is just another
way of not doing anything about a problem. The problem is not that there
are no acceptable or realistic alternatives to the evils of capitalism, the
problem, as you so eloquently put it, is that "we all accept" it.
