Well, apparently the AFA (American Family Association) has taken it upon
itself to conduct a survey of how the country feels about gay marriage.
Their current plan is to present the finding so Congress to show how
horribly opposed everyone is to Gay Marriage. But, heh, anyone can take the
poll. So now is the time and a great opportunity to stand up to the AFA and
say no to unneccesary shmeng slining, with the hope that they will be
paying to lobby congress to legalize gay marriage.
Have at it.
http://www.afa.net/petitions/MarriagePoll.asp
As a note, this has got to be the single stupidest move by a hate-mongering
group ever, to make an open to all forum and commit itself to acting upon
the results. Got to love it.

They're getting desperate. They know it's coming and they can't stop it.
Why do they even try? Why do they care? The only answer: They're
complete and utter bitches! Maybe it won't happen while the Bush
administration is in power but it's only a matter of time. ____________________

At first I was a little wary of why they were asking for my name and e-mail
address. Thankfully I am changing e-mail addresses soon. ____________________ co-worker: "Your gay!?"

When I took the poll, less than a third of the votes tallied opposed gay
marriage. Heh...I suppose that shows them that people prefer a stable,
loving union, no matter what gender the partners are.
Who wants to lay down money that they'll alter the tally to suit their
agenda?

When I went there, it said, "Page cannot be displayed". Do you think they
got mad and took it down because things weren't going their way?

Meranda_Jade, it did the same thing to me, but the page appeared after I
refreshed it.
I'm sure that they're thrilled that so many people are okay with
homosexual marriage.
It would be awesome if they really were...but I get the feeling that
they'll chalk it up to how "morally bankrupt" society is for thinking it's
okay for two people who love each other dearly to be joined in such a way.
*sigh* Somebody buy the morality police a doughnut. Please.

The polling page didn't load for me, either. I tried just going to the
index page of afa, but it didn't let me, either, so its probably just
server troubles and not childish spite.
Although... it is mighty convenient for them...
But anyway, isn't it nice that there's someone out there crusading against
what is the right thing to do? Without people like them, civil rights would
be no fun at all.

The poll has been hacked several times by various pro gay marriage people,
plus it's an internet poll, so I doubt it will have much of an effect
anyways... ____________________ Sometimes I dream about dinosaurs shopping for cargo shorts at the Gap.

oppose gay marriage?
Well, 59 % for gay marriage as I voted. And I'm not even on the same

What a useless waste of resources. Who the hell CARES what everyone else
thinks of gay marriage?! It's not UP to the goddamned masses to decide the
fate of others, it's up to those INVOLVED that should have the final say
so. It's nobody's business than their own.
You know, in one of my highschool history classes we all had to come up
with a new "consitution" and laws as a week long assignment. At the end,
my teacher got up and said "you know what makes me so sad about this whole
thing? How many of you made your first laws as outlawing homosexuality"
and then spent the whole class period shaming them into the ground. I then
had an english class where your quarter projects was writing an essay, pro
or anti, on a popular social issue, and we were required to read it in
front of class while others made comments on anonymous response sheets to
be given to the person to read when the whole class had done their
presentations.
FIVE PEOPLE out of a class of 20 did straight on "why gay marriage should
be illegal" or "why gay adoption whould be illegal" or "why homosexuality
should be illegal". One bright and shining star of a girl started her
essay with "god made adam and eve not adam and steve". My anonymous
response was "way to hump the bible ticket you ignorant bitch. Grow the
fuck up."
My whole point of this is that in life you have protagonists and
antagonists, and life needs them or there is no friction and no growth, and
part of me believes that if someone hadn't put up such blatant opposition
for so long none of us might be aware of the injustices of the gay
community. We, as a country, have developed a sort of "legal tolerance"
but not acceptance. Gays can work where they want, be represented by an
attourney, live together (tho should your landlord be extremely religious
they can claim freedom of religion and now allow unmarried couples to live
together, so they take care of living in sin and homosexuals in one blow)
and such, they're denied the most basic of rights, which is pick your love
and make it legal. This also affects healthcare. Say one person in said
relationship doesn't work? Most good companies have "dependents" clauses
that state that your significant other that lives with you (married or not)
is elligible for healthcare on your plan. Some don't, and there's no legal
way to make them do that.
I just dont' see why it IS such a big deal, it's a basic human right to
happiness, which our own fucking constitution proclaims is THE ultimate
right. Happiness and the persuit of freedom.

Listen, I'd be very careful giving the American Family Association your
first and last name, and your zip code. They are not a friendly bunch of
people, and they have a fixed set of views on homosexuality. They will
forever oppose homosexuality and homosexual marrriage. This poll won't
change their minds, and no other organization will pay attention to it
regardless of what the results are. They are only concerned with the poll
if it goes their way, but it's not. So what are they going to do with your
name and e-mail when the poll is finished? Put you on some kind of list?
There are a very creepy, vicious group of people that look respectable only
because they now have a professional looking web site. Becareful what you
tell the AFA. ____________________ The OBOLISK is Divine. |

I was thinking the same things when I voted. So, one I gave them an e-mail
address that will expire in a few days. Two, I gave a close, but disstanted
zip code. Three, long ago I set up an e-mail address with a dummy name, and
in simular wary situations will use the dummy name. ____________________ co-worker: "Your gay!?"

I think I'll go vote just so they CAN have my name and address, I'd LOVE to
see what they do with it. I'll be the test dummy and report back.
It IS rather funny what people do with your info when you vote/sign
up/order anything. I ordered a futon set from "the sportsman guide"
catalog and started getting membership offers from the NRA. ____________________ Trapped in time. Surrounded by evil. Low on gas. |

As I said, nobody will be using this poll. They have already thrown out
several votes that all came from the same IP address on multiple occasions.
(after someone actually came forward and said that three thousand votes
were him....)
Besides, the government shouldn't recognize gay marriage. They also
shouldn't recognize straight marriages either, but that's a whole different
bag of fish... ____________________ Sometimes I dream about dinosaurs shopping for cargo shorts at the Gap.

snicker: coward,
It is true, you get a lot of bonuses and discounts from the government
for having a "legal" marrige. However, most marriges are conducted in
churches or by pastors or by justices of the peace. No matter in what
direction you look at it. Religion, has warped through the justice system
and infested every area. Religion is against gay marriges, However, What
about in the ancient days of greece beneath the "heathen" gods where men
were encouraged to have relationships with "older" and more "experienced"
gentlemen? Interesting, is it not. That when there were "heathen" gods
there was far more that was acceptable and now, what was once perfectly
natural and there was nothing to look down upon is now ostrisized and
critisized all to fucking hell? ____________________ When the world is over, will we wonder how it began? |
