I would like to see the disney rendition of "the red shoes"...the little
girl who tricked her blind grandmother into buying her red leather shoes
(when the poor old lady thought she was buying modest and appropriate black
shoes for the girl) and she went to church in those shoes and everyone was
aghast and the grandmother didn't know why. Then the girl was so happy
with her prideful shoes she began to dance, but when she wanted to stop the
shoes kept on going, exhausting her.
So she danced into the woods where the axe man lived, and begged the
executioner to cut off her sinful feet in those sinful shoes and give her
peace, which he obliged.
*whack*
Now THAT'S entertainment... |

Anybody Know of the Big Books Of (Whatever). There done in comic book from,
but they are really good. I bring this up because they published the Big
Book Of Grimm. The stories in the book, some I never heard of were not
toned down at all. I wish I had the collection. ____________________ co-worker: "Your gay!?"

The Grimms just collected those stories from folks, they didn't make 'em
up. They were the stories the common folk were telling one another at the
time (and they say cartoons will mess you up!) I've got a complete set of
'em (and there are a Scheißload!) and there is enough material there to
keep Hollywood steeped in gore for the next twenty years.
Kids books (older ones anyway) really are twisted. I just read J.M.
Barry's Peter Pan for the first time, and I have not run into something
more psycho-sexual in ages! As far as contemporary children's literature
goes, I can't praise J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter books enough... and those
have some pretty uncomfortable stuff in them as well.

This is why I love fantasy so much, some movies just got the tone right.
I think the best classic story of good vs evil created in modern times is
Legend by Ridley Scott. *spelled right?*
I don't really know that many classic fables. ____________________ but at least you know, just how much pain there is in living |

Ohh, that means we should be getting some decent things to watch... good,
good
Because the last thing I saw was "Queen Of The Damned" and that sucked
(compared to "Interview with the Vampire")... |

As long as we're on the subject of horror for little kids, I think the best
way to teach kids the alphabet is with the "Ghastlycrumb Tinies" by Edward
Gorey. Between that and my giant plush Cthulhu doll, my kids are going to
gorw-up to be aaaaaaall-right (just like mee)! |

I have that! I read it to my baby nephew when my sister's not around
*snicker*
Bedtime stories will be the compilation work of tim burton's "the
melancholy death of oysterboy" (excerpting some of the more "questionable"
stories, but anyhoo)
Queen of the Damned looked as bad in the trailers as the soundtrack

THE WORST SOUNDTRACK IN THE HISTORY OF MANKIND.
Like, bottom of the barrel of nu-metal/alternative they could find.
BLECH!
I think somday I'll get drunk and go to blockbuster and rent it for the
sake of doing so, like I did when I rented "lost souls" that fucking CROW 3
that took me a half a bottle of rum, a pack of cigarettes, and a bag of
popcorn to get over. |

die...all over again.

"Queen Of The Damned" is great visiually, so what we did was turn off the
sound, get some good music CD's and watch the film like some giant video
clip... with a big bottle of vodka... |

Its been years since I have seen Lord of Illusion, and I still think its a
great movie. I thought Crow 3 was good at least it was done better than
Highlander End Game. There are other movies out there that I like called
Joy Ride (the one with Paul Walker), The Moth Man Prophacies, Incubus (old
and in Italian but good). Almost forgot Ninth Gate, not so much scary, but
great to watch. ____________________ co-worker: "Your gay!?"

You liked the ninth gate??
that movie sucked hard. I mean, really hard. The only reason I ever saw
to watch it was to say, "ooh pretty people".
But the ending really took the cake, and by taking it, I mean the movie
took the cake from my stomach, where it would have been more than happy to
continue digesting ,and made me send it projectile like towards the screen.
Didn't they include a good ending for the movie in the budget? Or did
they spend all the money on the earthquake and the Dennis Rodman lookalike? ____________________ Sometimes I dream about dinosaurs shopping for cargo shorts at the Gap.

I have to agree with yoo on this one, Wolfie. The 9th Gate had a very
promising Lovecraftian beginning but the second time the rich guy typed in
666 as his pass code I lost all faith in the movie AND I WAS STILL LET
DOWN!
The problem is that Roman Polanski SUCKS! I just recently saw "The
Fearless Vampire Killers-or-Pardon Mee but yor Fangs are in my Neck" which
I consider to be his best movie but which I also consider to be terrible!
The only things I liked about it was Sharon Tate (the movie was made just
before she had that ...unfortunate incident) and the fact that Skinny Puppy
sampled the hell out of the movie.
Rosemary's Baby? Sucked! I don't care if Anton LaVey fucked Mia Farrow,
the movie was lame!
MacBeth? BS! How do yoo make a paticularly dark version of Shakespere,
film it even darker, and fuck up?
Haven't seen Chinatown, so I can't say anything about it. But I have yet
to see a Polanski movie I enjoy. |

better than the english dubbed version. |

Hm - I REALLY enjoyed The Ninth Gate, but that had A LOT to do with the
cast, I'm afraid... Looking forward to From Hell too, btw
OK, I'm shallow, so sue me.
What I really cannot understand is how anyone actually liked The 13th
Warrior - but maybe that's because I know the vikings were 30 cm tall.
Will try to get hold of both books, though! And the From Hell comic
rules.
(Can any of you English/Americans please tell me what the difference is
between "comic" and "cartoon", btw???) ____________________ All stressed out and no one to choke...
