Dogma
Another classic film from View Askew productions. I happen to worship the ground that Jay and Silent Bob walk upon. And I don't normally 'do' toilet humour.
Dogma is about the last zion... who is a lapsed catholic, and is rather annoyed at God because it was his 'plan' that she should have no children. God decides to go down to earth and take human form, but he gets beaten up and put in a coma. Should he die, he'd whoosh right back up to heaven but as it goes he's stuck.
The rest of the story is two naughty angels, exciled to earth as punishment want to get back up to heaven, but if they make it all of existance will be unmade as they'd have proven God is fallible. They don't know this, and it's the last zion's job to stop them. It's a lot less complicated when it's not me that's explaining it.
Suffice it to say that this film is really good, and has a very interesting take on religion. You have to see it, just to see the way they explain that and God (who, incidentally, is played by Alanis Morisette). Other than that Jay and Silent Bob are on top form, Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are the eye candy and Alan Rickman puts in an appearance as the metatron. Oh how I love that man.
