Hot Head Piasan: Homicidal Lesbian Terrorist

There are few things more Goth than disagreeing with the masses, being an outcast, being of a deviant sexuality, and being somewhat homicidal. Take all of these wonderful characteristics of Gothos add a pint of napalm and mix it gently with nitroglycerin and you have Hot Head Piasan: Homicidal Lesbian Terrorist.

Hotness herself is your regular average juiced up coffee head homicidal killer who spends most of her days in one of two ways. The first is in conflict with the world; wanting to get away from the all the evils, confusion, backward hate fueled, nastiness. The other is killing the people that make the world so bad. She is a regular bundle of joy.

In the opening to the Complete Book of Hot Head, a fantastic graphic novel, you get sort of the back story. It’s so familiar to me it makes me weep every time. A young girl sitting in front of her T.V. being told why she is wrong, and morally bankrupt. The solution to all of her problems, of course, is to wear a pretty dress and become a good housewife Spritzhead (for the lay person we shall define Spritzhead as heterosexual female). Hot head surrounded by this hate-filled garbage spewing propaganda goes off the deep end and with the help of her trusty personal demon becomes the homicidal manic we know and love.

Diane DiMassa, the author and artist, makes Hot Head into a character that is at the same time completely insane and out of control, and yet wholly sympathetic and likable. When Hot Head reflects in her journal that the world is out to get her you can feel her pain. When she collects three rapists who have been freed by the system and then performs a spine-ectomy, you can’t help but cheer. When Hot Head finally meets the good goddess (who turns out to be a lamp with an unusual name) her conversation strikes you as not only personal but realistic, similar in scope to what you might find yourself asking if you were facing the divine in person.

Great reading material for those days when the world is really just putting the final straw on and you know it’s either you and them, and well, hell, better off them.
