So now the Jews are free from Egypt. They are wandering in the wilderness. They love Moses and, supposedly, the divine that set them free. Most of the people do not have any clue what really happened. Not only did Moses lie to Pharaoh, but to his own people. Though, honestly, most of them would be unable to actually handle what happened, their fragile little minds would break. Thus began a long standing tradition of governments not being honest with their people.

Let's talk about what happened after the death of the garden. Adam and Eve left Eden, because they had no choice. The land had become a waste, the water would not sustain life. Today, the area of eden is mostly desert. While desert is not my favorite form of climate, it is quite beautiful, and hosts a plethora of life forms.

Have you ever read the book? I don't mean read what they told you to in Sunday school or during the services. I mean, have you ever REALLY read it? Not many people have. There are some parts that seem to contradict themselves when you read it all. There are a couple reasons for that. We told a human the story. The human, unable to comprehend certain aspects of what we were telling him, did the best he could.

I've argued with myself over the placement of this chapter. Some would say that it is part of the creation story. Therefore, it belongs in chapter one. Others would say, man is something different than the plants and animals and should get his own chapter. I do not believe that either of these reasons are truly representative of why I chose to separate them.
Note: I warn you that if you are overly religious and/or christian, this will possibly offend you. The following text containts commentary that some would classify as blasphemy at the least. If you are easily offended by religious fiction... move on |

ok--im in the 8th grade and hav been a pagan for about 1 year--tho i hav been studying the reliogion fro over 3. the other day i went to school wearing a pentagram neclace and belt buckle. i hav only 1 friend who is a pagan at my school. wen the teachers started getting bitchy about our cloths and saying that wicca is not a religion, we stood up for ourselves and spoke our minds saying that if they allow christianity in school---then they hav to allow all religions.

Just recently, I was surfing the Internet looking for an article to write a Current Event on (homework!). I'd searched for article on different opinions of Gay Marriage, & I came upon a Conservative's website with an article titled, "Banning Gay Marriage is NOT the Answer", I was surprised, 'cause it was on a Conservative's website. And so I went ahead & read it. I was about to vomit all over the place, then roll around in my own vomit while throwing up even more.

One Sunday my family and I were invited to attend church by one of my husband's friend's wives. This friend is a very close friend of my husband so we attended. My husband and I are both very liberal in our ideas and although we believe in Christ as a separate entity apart from Christians we agreed to attend.

The room was small, bare bricked and void of any decoration. The fact that the windows were boarded added a certain senseof sublime bleakness to to it, and the single naked bulb burning furiously was a testament to a lost cause. In this room, the darkness was a palpable as flesh...and less vulnerable. Two men were in the room...or at least, one man in poor health, and one man who could barely be called human.

The first card of the tarot, the fool, is a fascinating character. Within the frame of our view, we see the fool. She stands at the precipice, ready to step off. She has a staff and cloth slung across her shoulder. At her feet stands the lantern she will use to light her path. Unlike any other deck I have encountered, I chose to portray the fool as a female. I have heard it say that the fool is the only truly universal character - a male that had embraced his feminine side and viewed the world with the innocence of a child. I portray the fool as a powerful female who has embraced her masculinity.

The Beginning...
They opened a new drug store near my apartment, a brand spanking new Walgreens that is larger than even the nearest grocery store. It has its own automatic doors that swing out instead of slide to the left, and it is right above a popular subway station. The company went so far as to redesign the facade of the building so that their store looks cleaner and more impressive than any other on their block, since there was no room to put their own building. To top it off, it is open twenty four hours a day.

On more than one occasion, I've lain trying to explain my own existence to myself and usually to no avail. It's the simple musings of a 15 year old kid, who is uneducated in almost all things religion and who only has theory to base her being a part of this world on.

Secretary-General Mithras glanced around at the tiers of seats and tables and shuffled through a stack of papers while he waited for everyone to find their places. How did people come to worship a sun god? One day someone, probably a farmer, got scared of the dark and their "weakness" when it is dark. They wanted walls to shut out the night, not just the rain and the snow and the wind. They wanted something to protect them that wasn't fallible and human. They wanted their fields to grow.

One of the better consequences of throwing your sleeping schedule completely out of whack is that you get to experience the day in different ways than you have been used to. I've decided that it is more than just the light that changes at different points during the day; the vibe changes entirely. The light has a different quality, the air has a different quality, and my thoughts have a different quality. I really shouldn't be surprised by that. On a subatomic level, I, like everything around me, am just an expression of energy as mass. It stands to reason that if the quality of the energy of the day shifts (of which I am convinced) then my brain waves (more energy) should follow suit.

As I’ve mentioned before, Hawaiian words often have many more meanings than the literal translations. You should read my article on Kapu if you’d like another example. It’s always interesting how languages with a smaller vocabulary usually have more depth to the meaning of each word. One word that every Caucasian should know is the word Haole.

One Saturday afternoon, I was having a lovely conversation with a friend who is a comfortable intellectual equal of mine. She, a psychologist, and was visiting my house to see both my brother (exclusively) and myself. Our conversation lead from fundamental particles (and how stupid string theory is), to sex, then to glass beads. She, very intelligent, is also very religious. No problem there between us, but is a disagreement on occasion.

Many people these days seem to have lost their minds to a book, or are victims of those who have had their minds sucked out by this text, the Bible. More specifically, the altered-to-fit-our-view bible that was produced by the Vatican to justify their power and play down the validity of others. If you read a non-editorialized version (i.e. not the KJV that was essentially the world according to James) you will see that certain groups were mentioned when the 'make no pacts' thing was stated to the nation of Israel. This is because these groups were hostile to the fledgling nation of Israel and would practice treachery and deceit in the event of a peace treaty, besides having idolatrous or other offensive practices that would possibly spread to the people of Israel if contact were encouraged (they had enough trouble staying away from things like that in the first place, like Baal and the calf).

A friend of mine in the States has recently had a run of really bad luck, and is forced by circumstances to seek help at a homeless shelter run by a strange religious sect who like to call themselves Christians. She is having to live there with her 4 yr old daughter and she is being forced to live by amazingly draconian rules.

After this weekend's twin peaks marathon, and last week's new Stephen King mini-series, I got to thinking again about Bad Land. That's when a place, regardless of any recent developments on the property, is just fundimentally bad. It's kind of like the opposite of "Holy Ground". Most people believe a place can be evil. How do I know? Because Stephen King wrote Pet Semetary. It's not that I think that Stephen King is a god, or even a great writer, but he knows what to write to reach the broadest audience. This might make him a sellout as a writer, but it makes him a great research tool. If he writes a story about Bad Land, and then goes and writes another one about a house on Bad Land, you can bet it's because most people believe in at least the idea of Bad Land.

It seems to me the fundamental difference between christianity, islam, and judiasm is the disagreement over who is a prophet and who is a messiah. It's interesting that this simple difference can pile up so many other disagreements over what god really said and whatnot - but I have an even more interesting question I've been thinking about.

My mom once told me that you never talk about sex, politics, or religion in polite company. Well we have covered politics and religion in the articles and sex in the forums. I guess we aren't polite. Suprize, suprize.
Are we going to let this religion thing seperate us? I dont think so, we have so much fun with it. Are we going to keep taking sides on it? Probably, the debate wouldn't be as much fun if we all said the same things.
