Articles: Electronic Saviors |

A few years ago, my friend Jim Semonik was diagnosed with cancer. This was actually bad news for the cancer, since he subsequently made the cancer his bitch and kicked it right the fuck out of his colon. He continued to promote shows here in Pittsburgh, as well as perform with his band Rein[forced]. It was after one of these shows that he was talking to Eric Powell of 16volt, when he decided to put out a compilation, and have the proceeds benefit cancer research. This started as a single disc, and then grew to 4 with a 5th digital disc added on near the end. Thus, Electronic Saviors was born.
Since the first compilation was wildly successful, a second one is now in the works. This one will feature 8 discs, with tons of awesome bands supplying 141 tracks. The proceeds will go to benefit Gilda's Club/Cancer Support Community and The Bone Marrow Foundation.
It's a ton of great music, and it's for a really good cause. I definitely recommend getting a copy when it comes out. Like the first one, it's going to be a limited edition, and also like the first one, it's probably going to sell out everywhere, so make sure you get one when it comes out.

In the last 10 years, under the Electronic Saviors name, Jim has released four more comps, cover albums of the Transformers Move and The Crow soundtracks, a comic, a soundtrack for that comic, and a soundtrack for the transformers comic. (Dudes got a thing for Transformers), with all proceeds going towards cancer research.
All while starting a new band, running a label, and just being an all around swell dude. He's one of the hardest working guys I know. I'm incredibly proud to call this man a friend.
