***Chapter 26***
Rose had curled up in my lap the moment we started moving and I had thought she was going to doze off, but her body was tight with energy. She was like a ball of tension vibrating in my lap. I realized I had neither spoken to her nor touched her since we left the tree house. She had obediently held onto me through everything but by now she must be feeling frantic in the face of my stony silence. I reach down and caressed her face where she lay curled into my stomach. Some of the tension went out of her immediately but it returned almost as quickly as it left.
"Rose, you must not worry my love. We will all be ok. We'll be out of this soon." Her tension increased and I was tempted to push her to tell me what was wrong, but I knew that by this time she was too worked up to verbalize. I knew that the only way I had of soothing her was to keep touching and to keep talking. I could make love to her, but that would only push the tension off until we were done, and then it would come crashing back twice as hard by comparison. I began to speak quickly and gently, covering everything I could think of. "Rose, I'm not going to let you go when we get to the island. I can't imagine life without you. Nor am I going to stop loving you when we get Dream back." I felt her muscles twitch at that. "Yes Rose, we're going to get her back. We have three days and I know this will be difficult for you, but I know you know where Ariana is holding her. You have to help me, help us get Dream back. If we don't...well this might be our last chance. I have this feeling that whatever else Ariana is doing, she's trying to break Dream. We are running out of time in more ways than one and that we have to rescue her now or her mind may be lost. Do you understand Rose? Rose?" She had gone still in my lap. I didn't know if that was a good sign or not, but I kept holding her and stroking her hair and I waited quietly for any response.
I got it a moment later when she exploded into action, for a split second I was unsure of whether to defend myself or expect a kiss. Luckily it turned out she was throwing her arms around my neck to hug me and shower me in kisses. I breathed a silent sigh of relief and return the affection. Soon Rose began to speak as she sat on my lap and laid her head on my shoulder.
"Thank you Master. I was so afraid that you were going to leave me, or that you were going to leave Dream and I would have to choose between the two of you, or that you would decide that you wanted to get Dream and that you were going to send me off alone while you tried to get her back. I am so afraid of facing Ar-Ari-" She choked trying to say the name. "I am so afraid of facing her, but I know I can do it with you there. Especially when I know that you will not leave me to her. Please Master, promise me you won't leave me behind, no matter what she, or I say." I hesitated at what she said, but only for a moment.
"Even if you ask me to leave you?"
"Especially if I ask you to leave me Master. Please!" I promised and this inspired another round of kisses and throat crushing hugs. By the time I got her arms around my chest and away from my throat we were laughing so hard at the croaking noises I was making that we could no longer kiss without bouncing our teeth off each other. We snuggled and held each other for the rest of the ride, and it wasn't until the driver announced our arrival at the diner that I realized that our clothing was not even close to appropriate for a restaurant, and was probably not even remotely street legal.
I looked up and saw the driver watching us in the rear-view mirror, amusement plain in his eyes. "There is clothing in the center panel Sir, just pull down the arm rest and you'll see." I laughed, forever amazed at the foresight of our hosts and tugged at the central panel. Rose and I chose from an assortment of clothing that ran a small range from demur to barely street legal. I wore leather pants and a plain black t-shirt and chose a pleated black skirt, fishnet stockings and a Spandex top for Rose. We changed hurriedly in the back seat, neither of us cared if the driver watched, but we didn't have time to enjoy the exhibitionist thrill of changing in a public parking lot, and for the most part, none of the patrons of the diner were people with whom we would care to share our bodies. We thanked the driver and he wished us luck and said he hoped to see us again on the cruise ship in three days. He also reminded us to take an envelope, for which I was very thankful, I took two, jut in case Rose and I got separated. I pressed her to take the second envelope along with promises that I was not trying to get us split up, just making sure of her safety. I tucked mine into a pocket unopened, and she made hers disappear in that way girls have. I wondered idly if they have some secret ability to open a pocket into a parallel universe in which they store things. A moment later, we entered the diner once again.

We stepped into the diner and were seated almost immediately. The sensation was surreal, not only because I was there during broad daylight, which I'd rarely ever done; but, also because the absolute normality of the situation was almost overwhelming after the decadence of the last week. I was sitting on a padded seat in a booth; the red plastic coating that was nearly omnipresent in every diner I had ever seen was like a homey detail I had never noticed before leaving it behind. The windows looked out on the city streets, and the general ebb and flow of the other customers was making me relax after the tension of fleeing the explosion.
I grinned across the table at Rose who was looking around her in the same wonderment as me. We had our ankles wrapped around each other and we were holding hands across the table, but we were both looking around like kids on their first trip out of the country. I looked back at Rose and caught her gazing at me with a funny smile on her face.
"What is it Rose?" I leaned over and kissed the corners of her smile.
"Nothing, it's just, well, it’s just that I wasn't sure you wouldn't evaporate like a dream the moment we were outside the walls of some part of the club." She finished in a rush of breath and looked at me nervously.
"I'm still here Rose, my darling, I'm still here. And you know what's funny. Yesterday, I would have feared that myself, but today, it's different somehow, like, I know you will always be with me, and the most important thing for me is to always remember how special you are so that I never stop being awed by the fact that you are here, with me, part of my life, and part of my heart." I stopped. I was getting soppy and I knew if we went down that road we soon would be cuddling, and soon after that we would be in jail for indecent public displays of hardcore sex.
Well, indecent in some eyes.
I gazed into her eyes and thought about indecent acts, the imagery floating through my head must have reflected in my eyes because it was her turn to smile and purr. I felt her toes slide up my leg and across my thigh. I had a moment to look around before the warmth of her foot was warming my most intimate parts through the leather of my pants. I caught my breath and was just about to admonish my darling slave when the thought entered my mind that right now, at this moment, rejection would be the most crippling thing I could do. Her fear and confusion were reaching out to me through the best avenue of communication she could find, the only avenue I couldn't fake, and the most fun avenue down which we could walk, arm in arm and tongue in ear.
I shifted myself in my seat to change the angle of my growing erection and looked across the table to watch her eyes widen as her toes traced from the base of me where I sat, to the widened flange of my head as it angled its excited way through the slight space between flesh and leather. I felt a slight tremble in her toes as she flexed her thighs against her own damp and swollen arousal, fanning flames that already threatened to devour us both. She shifted in her seat to achieve a better angle and I saw her eyes widen as the shift caused ripples of pleasure to course through her body. Her lips swelled as she continued the slow dance her toes were tapping across my crotch.
I watched the trust and abandon as they moved across her face and only barely stifled a gasp as the waitress appeared at her shoulder. I struggled to maintain my composure while the waitress took our orders and barely restrained myself when I felt Rose's very dexterous toes begin to inch my zipper down. The rasp of the tiny metal clasp against the teeth of the zipper felt like nothing I had ever experienced and my breath caught as each twist of her toes brought me closer to spilling from my pants in more ways than one.
I ordered coffee and French fries for both of us, my breath coming through clenched teeth. I was convinced the waitress knew we were up to something, but the table hid our actions, and she must have assumed we were just another couple of Goths out for a drugged up night on the town. Thankfully the waitress left with our order and through stifled giggles Rose asked if I was OK. I nodded in mute assent while she worked her magic on me. I almost had to stifle a giggle when I thought about the slave asking the master if he was OK, but at that moment Rose shifted something she was doing and I went from a highly distracted state into near frenzy. I was completely overtaken by the sensations riding up from my crotch and sliding across my skin.
I must have sent some silent signal, because Rose redoubled her efforts and I nearly lost it right there on the spot. A moment later, I did. Rose shifted once again and suddenly I was there. Hot fluid spurted over my stomach where the shirt had come un-tucked, and I gripped the table in silent ecstasy while I rode the orgasm. I know I was blushing; I was also panting and barely able to keep my head from dropping to the table as my entire body relaxed. I looked up to see Rose's grin and I knew that I had managed the perfect reassurance. She was smiling happily and her eyes were bright with pleasure. And somehow, not all that strangely, I felt a lot better myself.
"I had to know if it was real. I am so sorry if that was inappropriate, but I had to know." She was babbling, but the smile was still there and so I returned it and listened. "There's something about the club, no matter where it is, no matter how many of us are there, it's like a fairy mound or something. Time always seems to slow and things are almost more real, but sometimes it makes me afraid that when we step outside the club, when we are all alone, that the magic will fade. This, us, I didn't want to lose it, I still don't, but I had to know if it would still be real once we were all by ourselves and the club wasn't there, wasn't urging us on." She looked into my eyes, her smile had faded a little and I could see her searching me to see if I had understood. I had, perfectly.
"Rose, my darling Rose, I remember that first morning when I woke up in my bed after the most amazing night of my life. I was afraid it had all been a dream until...Dream, shit!" Saying her name, even incidentally had brought the immediacy of the situation back to me. I looked at Rose and the look she gave me said it all. We both knew that in some ways we had left the magic of the club. Time was once again moving for us and it was running out.
"We need -"
"I can take -"
We spoke and stopped at the same time and for a moment we shared that private intimacy that only lovers can experience. She nodded for me to continue and I did. "We need to find Dream now. I'm guessing you were about to offer to take me to her."
Rose nodded. "I can take you to where I think she is. It's not far, but getting there won't be the hard part."
"I know." I knew that whatever Dream had needed to do might not be complete; I also knew that she might never be ready to leave Ariana, but we had to try. She had come to me for more than a one night stand, and I felt that I owed her whatever I could offer, even if I didn't know what that was yet. My thoughts must have shown in my face because Rose scooted around the table to sit next to me and began to stroke my cheek. I leaned into the welcome touch, but a moment later I realized I had to ask some very serious questions.
"Rose, do you know the nature of Dream's relationship with Ariana?" She nodded but did not go into detail until I prodded her.
"She pledged herself to Ariana some time ago, much like I did. Ariana is a very demanding Mistress, she controls every part of your life when you are one of her slaves. In many ways it was perfect for me, for any slave really. We need that much structure and she gave it. But soon, much too soon she got bored with me, I think she has also gotten bored with Dream. That doesn't change her desire to own us, just her drive to interact with us. When she got bored, she changed the form of her control. She began to give me tasks that kept me away from her more and more; and when I tried to ask for attention she locked me in the dark room." Rose's breath caught in her throat.
"That's what she calls it, the Dark Room. It's a bedroom that has been sound proofed and light proofed. It's always too warm in there and the air doesn't move so you think you are going to suffocate. I know she has Dream locked in the dark room right now, I just know it. Ariana will try to keep her forever, I almost didn't get away. Even with the neglect I still felt that she was my Mistress and that I must have done something wrong to deserve the way she abused me. She called me names and told me I was worthless and that I had become a burden to her. Every once in a while she would tell me she still loved me and that would keep me going, like a starving woman who will give up everything for a crumb." Rose broke then and slumped into my shoulder. Her tears came freely and I held her while she shook and relived the grief of her days with Ariana.
"I've heard enough Rose." I held her tight and thought. There was really only one way to take Dream from Ariana and that would have to be through her own choice. She had agreed to be Ariana’s slave of her own free will and her agreement still stood until she broke it. If Dream did not choose to come with us she would always be Ariana's creature and her mind would be torn no matter how far she was from Ariana's side. With my mind made up I waited through the sobs and felt Rose's heart pound in her chest until she began to subside.
"Do you feel a little better? That sounded like it had been building for a while." Rose nodded. Even with her eyes red rimmed from the tears she looked beautiful to me and I couldn't resist kissing the tears from her cheeks where they glistened like the morning dew.
I had to know. "Do you feel up to facing Ariana with me or do you need to be somewhere else when I do this?"
Rose sniffled and looked up into my face. She paused for a moment and took a deep breath before answering. "I can be there. Don't ask me to talk, but I think I need to be there and see her one last time. I don't know if I'll ever have closure, but this might help. And if I freak out I can always hide in your shoulder."

Girls do, in fact, have the ability to open a secret pocket into a parallel universe.
The only problem is that sometimes reaching into and fishing around in it can look a titch awkward at times.
