Red Cross. Telecommuting. Hat shopping. Indian Food. An update from your freindly neoghborhood "citizen refugees"
Shade has talked to his boss and does still have a job. talk about telecommuting! Shade just started working there at the begining of Augest and really likes it so its really great that he still has the job that he wanted.
I managed to turn in some of the homework for the second to last week of my class. I have 7 more weeks of "college" (gotta love online degree programs!) and my teacher is now just lavishing perfect "A"s on me. whoooooo grant/scholarships for grad school!
I bought a local numbered cell phone. Its my first cell phone so all it took was a nation rocking national disaster to get me to move into the late 20th century.
We went to the "refugee" center at the local Red Cross and they gave us real aid, not just picking though old clothes for something that might fit and access to a free hot meal everyday kind of aid, but real help in money and medical attention.
Other news.... my platonic wife made it out and is refugee-ing in Tennessee and our coffee buddy is moving to Austen to bartend at a booby bar. We still havent heard from the x boss (the man that lent us the car that got us here), his wife or partner, or the new owner of the antiques gallery (or his wife or 2 year old child ---they lived in the area next to the broken part of the 17th street canal---)

Congratulations on you earning A's in class and Shade getting to keep his job. I'm glad things are working out okay for you two.
I heard last night on the news that those from the Jefferson parish can go back and get their stuff but they can't stay.
I also heard that the department of labor is giving out money to those who lost their jobs due to the storm and that they are giving money to those who didn't have jobs prior to the storm either. Those who lost jobs can still collect regular unemployment as well. I believe the amount they are giving to those without jobs prior is about 250 dollars. I am not sure though. I suggest looking at the DoL online.
Devin and I have been watching lots of the news and even saw your area on television and it looked pretty good.
I was wondering about the Platonic wife and if she got out okay. I am glad she did. Much luck to her in whatever she does now, and the same to you two.
Glad the Red Cross there gave you actual aid. That was very nice of them.
You're going to be a college grad soon! Hooray. Good luck. I hope to talk with you sometime soon.

From space it looks like the water stopped one street East of your place, and it looks like it stopped four blocks North of the Royal Street place. Although I wouldn't wish Cincinnati on my worst enemy, it's 600 feet above sea level if you can deal with the cold weather that is already setting in. Good luck, and I hope that the end of this is good for you and the city.

I'm happy to see that you guys are ok. I didn't even think to check on here for any information on where you guys are (I just bugged Carly for the info :P). If you two ever need anything let me know.
