Articles: The New Year |

It has been a week since that man ran a red light and smashed into us. Our car was totaled. The hospital said it was mostly just sprains and shock and that we would feel better in a week or so. Well its been a week. I still have trouble turning my head. Shade still walks with a slight limp. The car has been towed away and we are driving a rental car.
Let me mention that the night we were hit, we were supposed to be meeting friends that we hadnt seen in 3 years. They were in town for a convention and then were going to stay for a few nights at our house. We were in so much pain and had so much legal stuff to deal with that we barely got to see them at all. Did I mention that her brother was also in town? A rather fabulous chef that knows a bunch of the other fabu chefs down here and that we had to decline dinner because we couldn’t sit up?
Now we have physical therapy rather than breakfast. I have more pain pills than I can count, at least that I can count after taking one of the pills. We fall asleep early because the drugs and the healing and the pain knock us out. We whine all day at work about how much it hurts. We drive a rental car.
So far the doctors have been insane. The insurance people work only those hours when we are asleep. The lawyer is a tall smiling man who’s paralegal can’t figure out how to use a phone. But the nurse have all been smiling faces with a good bedside manner.
I just want the pain to stop. I want to sleep through the night. I want to get in a car with out being afraid, really afraid of traffic. I want shade to stop wincing when he walks or bends. I want my car back.
Oh did I mention that someone just stole one of our credit cards? The main one? And that the shop we work at is a plaque ward. Everone has a headcold, the flu, the other flu or a stomach virus?
Its three weeks into the new year and each week so far we have has either a flu, a car wreck, or credit theft. So far its been a “bad” year.
I miss the ‘80’s.

Oh Callei, I wish I knew what to say. That's just terrible. I hope you and Shade both recover well from this, and things start getting better. I know it sounds trite, but I'm sending some good mojo your way. I hope it helps. *hug*

Lot os love to you, Callei, and I just want to see you get better.

So far this year I have had a killer mutant flu, a car wreck, serious physical pain, and just this evening, a lay off.
I am really really really not enjoying this year at all.
and the poor bastard that hit us, well he had his accounts frozen by his band that day because he had moved from one state to another and the bank didnt want to move his money. His job gave him like no notice that they were transfering him half way acros s the country and all he wanted was a cig. He was really good about it, fessing to having run the red, letting us use his phone for calls, he even bought me some water when he finally got to go across the street to buy the smokes that he so dearly needed. I dont hate the guy, I feel as sorry for him as i do for me.

I wouldn't wish car ills on my worst enemy, they suck, no doubt about it.
Hopefully this is just a warm up to a great year. You know, have all the crappy stuff happen and get it out of the way so the rest of the year can be better, happier and more productive.
I do hope the pain ends soon, that's not fun for anyone. Get well and try to stay less then homicidal.

The good thing is you didn't get hurt more severely. The bad thing is that doesn't make the pains and aches any less severe.
Maybe it's an opening to get a job somewhere that you enjoy more than the one you got laid off from, and maybe you'll get a car you love even more than the one that got totalled.
In any case, I'm sending you guys hugs and positive energy (to help shove away all that negative shit).
