Preach: Premarin and Horses |

Premarin provides women with the relief they need from hot flashes, night sweats, and vaginal dryness. Well, that’s a nice goal, but what about the horses? Confused? Read on.
The word Premarin comes from the drug’s main ingredient: Pregnant mare urine. Farmers get their horses pregnant and stick a catheter into their bladder for the whole gestative period. Some of you may know the discomfort of a catheter. Well, how about for nine months while you’re going through the pains of pregnancy? That’s what these poor mares must go through. 60,000 of them. And from those 60,000 mares come 60,000 newborn foals. But the farmers have no use for foals. They just want pregnant mares. So 90% of the newborn foals are shipped off to slaughter since its convenient and cost-effective. They hardly get a chance at living. Recent changes in the industry have lengthened the lifespan of these doomed foals to three months so the mare and her offspring can enjoy the summer in the pasture. But as soon as possible, the mare is inseminated, hooked up to the machine, and the foal is killed. And for what? So that women can get a little relief from menopause. Something that women have been going through for thousands of years, but I guess these days personal comfort is more important than thousands of horses’ lives. And isn’t it ironic that the same women who may have wanted a pony when they were young are now indirectly paying to have them killed… If you want to help, have $1000 dollars to spare, and land to put the horse on, you can go to www.ransomranch.com or www.unitedpegasus.com. These two organizations are trying to save as many of the foals as possible by buying them from the farmers.

You might be able to find "human" in "humane" but you'll never find "humane" in "human". All those middle aged women who worry about the cute fuzzies in the polluted forrests while fueling up their SUV's and driving to their tract housing in "the woods" and taking a "natural" suppliment for their poor withered poonanays.
Oh, I'm sorry, do I sound a tad too angry?
Now compare this to the dairy industry. Cows don't produce milk for shits and giggles kids. They aren't born as portable refreshment carts..just like the pregnant mares and their miracle piss, america's favorite fluid dispensers require babies born for slaughter as well.
Good informative article...you may want to pick up the "animal products A-Z" dictionary. Even if you're not a vegan or vegetarian, but don't want to take drugs that are dirived from or tested on animals, it lists every chemical, compound, and component in existence and it's manufacturing/harvesting.

While I'm not extreme on supporting animal rights, I think that's just too harsh. What makes it even worse is that it's to be relieved of "minor" things, contrary to actual health problems. That's like kicking a dog just because it makes you feel good.

I can't help but be amused when someone talks about their health problems associated with Premarin and the like. It's rather like when someone talks about their allergies to cow's milk and how they can't understand why cow's milk would be disagreeing with them. Well it would be because cow's milk is for baby cows...not adult humans...so cosume at your own risk and deal with the results. I especially love it when someone complains about how they hate any redness left in their hamburgers. Gee let me think...if you want to eat meat...and since meat has blood in it...well blood is generally red in a mammal...so you have the pink there to make you remember this fact. I'm sickened by what is done to animals in the sake of human comfort...and I try to do my part to help with animal rights. I'm delighted to see others doing the same.

I heard about the cruelty involved with Premarin a while ago and was outraged and horrified. Me, being someone who would have done anything to have a horse as a child, cannot believe people consider foals by-products. I'm very pleased to find others who share similar thoughts as me.
