Dream Analysis: Snakes |
Posted by

Just a couple of weeks ago I had a relatively scary dream. A few hours before I went to bed my cousin was throwing a black rubber fishing worm at me and I was throwing it back at him. That nite I dreampt that people I knew from school, people I thought I could trust, began to throw snakes at me.
The snakes were flying at me mouths open, and one was missing half of his body because he had been hurt, obviously me remembering the little rubber worm being broken into smaller pieces. Well, I began to cry, and my body began to cry in the real world as well. Tears rolled down my cheeks.
Finally, Devin and CGB began to block me from the attacks and they comforted me as they did so. I kind of understand it, but I am wondering if I am interpreting it right.

Why'd it have to be snakes?

Don't know if this is relevant, but whenever I am exhausted or very, very stressed, I dream of snakes. Snakes everywhere. I always tend to interpret dreams semiotically, so you will have to ask yourself: What does it mean to you, since your own subconscious generated it. If you think you know what it means, then you are in a better position to determine that than anyone else. Best of luck!

All of the imagery and symbolism I've ever learned anything about says that snakes directly correlate to sex (yang kind, not yin kind) - just like water directly correlates to emotion. What kind of sex depends on what the snakes are doing. Just about every dream dictionary I've ever seen will tell you the same thing.
So if you replace snakes in the dream with sex vibe and see how that works, that should give you a better idea.
Of course, Mono is right as usual - imagery is just suggestions, and you have to figure out what each image means to you. It could just as easily be stress.

Damn those snake dreams! They used to haunt me in my childhood - lurking in the hall and spitting at me, while I tried in vain to build a wall of books to protect myself. Crawling up the legs of the kitchen table as I cowered on the top. And just recently, another. A snake working its way up the front of my shirt by hooking its fangs in the fabric, then throwing itself upwards and getting a higher grip.
I never heard the sex-symbolism. That makes my dreams seem even more disturbing to me!
But sorry, I can't enlighten you as to the meaning of your dream. Except it seems that you might be afraid that the people you think you can trust really can't be trusted. But I think that would be a pretty obvious interpretation.

I've never had a dream with snakes in it. About the only thing that comes close to snakes was a dream about a radioactive cricket. I had it in a jar in my desk in school.
Here comes the really weird part. I opened the jar and the cricket jumped out hitting me in the chest. At that same moment, my teacher kicked the desk that my head was laying on in real life. When I woke up, I was looking for the cricket on my chest.
As far as interpretations go, I really have no clue. I've only ever skimmed through a few dream books, and I was never able to find anything about my dreams so I gave up.

Okay everyone, thank you for your feed back. What I thought that this dream meant was that I don't feel as though I have much trust established in my feelings towards my school "friends", and that I have more placed in my friends such as Closetgothbabe and Devin. They are generally there for me when I need them, and I have established a relationship with them that is stronger than that with my school "friends". Thank you CGB and Devin!
