Humor: How I hate rejection |
Posted by

No story I have written has ever been published. I have read various articles about how to publish a story and still, none have made it up. If this stupid thing somehow does get posted, maybe you would like to read just why people like me will never ever publish a story.
(Not that I should bother, no-one will ever publish this junk anyway)
Well firstly I'm just going to write about the things I've learned....
1. Don't whine about things no-one wants to hear about
(well thats why THIS story is going to get rejected)
At least this one has a point, and those little things like a begining and and end. That is more than most than I get. If there is a POINT to the whining, I will take the time to spell check the darned thing
2. Don't use the stories like they are a diary
(woo hoo another reason this story won't make it)
A subclause on the diary rule should probably be "if it is a part of your diary that other people WHO DONT KNOW YOU (or all your friends or the social groups at your highschool or your parents) could understand, then it has a chance.
3. Try to make your story readable
(hah! yeah as if anyone understands what I'M trying to say)
Again, a small amount of thought, a careful application of some sort of work reduction for me (spell check and having someone else read it first), and a prior removal of things that i am going to have to cut out (proper names, where you live, that sort of thing) will make it understandable. Then i can see if there is a point...
4. Write about things people might actually WANT to read about
(and here is yet another reason this stoopid thing won't be published)
Here is the bit where I ask that it has a point, some reason other than total self engrandizement to have been written. Things that happen in your life are probably worth writing about, if they made you think, ponder, wonder, or imagine. This includes things that make you think about hiring hitmen, ponder jail time, wonder if you would get caught, or imagine what jail would really be like.
5. Have good spelling and grammar.
(And I can't even spell stoopid... *sigh*)
There are machines to help with this. There are friends to help with this. And isn' that the right way to spell stoopid?
Actually why the hell am I writing this?
All these points have been made a million times before and I'm sure the stupid people like me who don't listen to them don't really deserve to have their stories published anyway.
It is not a matter of deserving oh ye of little egos, it is a matter of writing.
I've tried to write a good story, and I'll try again. (I'm sure I'll get one published one of these days)
But to whoever was reading this, I hope you were at least entertained a little bit before you press the good old delete button.
14.88 wins again. Or is that whines again? Anyways, you got one on the front page. Lets see what happens now.

Well luvy, it seems as if you've done it!
*applause*
You know, I don't know if you were serious or being funny when you were writing it but I couldn't help but laugh (not at you, but either with you or for you, I can't tell), but goddamned sister (or brother?) if it was intentional you just outlined the basic rules (with help from the italics elf) that you need to follow to get published!
Voila!
It's amazing kids, simply amazing.
Now enough with the self loathing.
You got your cookie.
Now follow your own guidelines and do something interesting with it.

this was really just for the humor... it is after all the third thing I have ever published, and I can't really complain about the first two. thanks for the italics that made it quite a bit funnier... and there is a difference between stupid and stoopid....
