Why is it that whenever I am in a public place people always have the nerve to make comments either loud enough so I can hear them or to my face.
One time I was carying stuff back from my boat when some fat old lady said to her kid: "I would never let you dye your hair like that it only leads to bad things. " Another time some guy said: "Hey, man you stole my dogs collar, and in the same day another guy that I'd seen around town said: "Hey look it's the wierd chick."
Is it just me or are people afraid of things that they don't know or that are just diferent. Why else would they see fit to comment. Oh, I hope this doesn't take back what I just said, but a great comback for the guy that said I stole his dogs collar would be: "Yeah...and then I ate your dog....

2 days after the columbine incident... I was walking my little sister to her car... on the way back to shattered, I passed the "Music Cafe" and a group of frat boys stepped into my path with teh words "trench coat mafia motherfucker, I oughtta make you suffer for what those kids went through..." within about 30 seconds, the entire cafe was surrounding us...
I am a big guy...6'9", 320 pouds... but there were many more of them than there was of me... It is not that they fear that which they don't understand... it comes down to the fact that as we lost our fur, we lost our markings and ma, being a pack animal needs to focus on species difference to maintain the cohesion of the pack...
We... seem to bear different markings than they...
BUT... since I know everyone wants to know the exciting conculsion I will tell the rest of the tale...
After about five minutes of this, it seems that my little sister had driven past and gone to shattered... My best bud, shannon, had stepped up beside me...
We were trying to diffuse the situation, to avoid violence... but the lead frat rat was getting more and more agitated till he shoved me... I told his friends that they needed to restrain him, because - if he touched me again - I was going to do some serious damage.
"Dude, there's alot more of us than there are of you!"
"Yes... but do you think you could honestly stop me before I hurt him? And honestly, How many of you are willing to be maimed to put me in the hospital... because you are going to have to kill me to stop me..."
Now... I will say this... I am a martial artist... I hate stupidity... but I am also a pacifist ... and I WAS SCARED... but I prefer to bluff as opposed to just taking the shit...
After that comment... they backed up a step... and... another... I was feeling pretty damn good about myself... I was SCAREY!!!
I was also a standing against a back drop of all the goths from Shattered.... who had circled the block and were all standing behind me... People who can't stand me, my friends, the kids from out of town... and we stood unified...
It was pretty damn cool... Shannon and I were relieved... and were impressed at how intimidating we were til we took a step and heard the rustling of clothes and the staccato click of boot heels...

Well Static, just as you said, in reality it works like this: What people don't understand they fear and what they fear they attempt to distroy. It's wrong but that's just the way some people tend to think. Don't worry yourself your not alone. I've been through situations like that myself. Actually I go through it all the time. the best way to deal with it is to truly ignore it but if it gets really personal a good humored come back like the one you just stated really puts them in their place. I'm really sorry you have to deal with crap like that!
