thanks mono. And it is sad, believe me. I lived in this house when i was a kid, and moved back two years ago, and I remember all the "outside" animals I lost on the highway by my yard. Needless to say I have a good fence for when my dog goes outside, and my cats stay IN.
I think I'll never see in my lifetime any sort of mass "enlightenment" amongs humanity, where we treat each other and the millions of species with which we share the planet with the respect and caring they deserve. But we're on our way, I think, and there will be setbacks, but I can hope, can't I? And your comment reminds me of a quote I read in "animal liberation";
"the greatness of a people can be gauged not only by how they treat their citizens, but how they treat their animals" ~too lazy to look up the author.
