Nicely put MW, I'd just like to add that the author also 'asked for it' by posting a paragraph severly lacking in many of the points raised in many of the articles here on the site about the writing of a submission. Length being one of the first and foremost. Content running a close second. There was, as you said Comte, alot left out of this submission. That is not a novel approach to writing, it is in fact a poor example of the literary arts. The detail that this author left out could quite easily have made a full article.
A couple of specifics are "why should we care?" The author gives us no reason to identify with the characters. Also, "and then...?" what were the protagonists thoughts beyond "oh well"? Did S/He remember the night before? what happened? And finally, how hard is it to proof read four bloody sentances? I seriously doubt the football field was brought in for prom "... alone in the football field from the prom..." And while I am easily the king of the run-on sentance, again, how hard is it to proof read four sentances?
