Autority harrassment

It shocks me to read this. Granted I live in a country in which firearms are extremely rare and controlled, in which gangs are an unknown phenomenon and in which policemen treat you with respect (well, at least they always treated me with respect and I do not wear a "Beware of the Lawyer" T-Shirt), but goths are left alone by the police.
I have recently studied (for a case I'll post about when it's over and I can freely talk about it, I'm sure you'll all find it interesting) an extra-official copy of a CUP report (that's an information-sharing organization that joins all Spanish police forces: the National Police, the Civil Guard, the Basque and Catalonian polices and representatives of the City PDs) about urban tribes. The report points out that Goths (sinisters) are "utterly harmless despite their appearance", calm, non-violent, that they will "cooperate with the police force if treated with respect" and that they "show respect to the Law and other's rights". It says that drug trafficking is unlikely in a Goth (it also says usage is only slightly lower than average, mostly haschis, cocaine and "pills"). It warns the Police that Goths have relationship to other, more dangerous and violent groups such as punks and satanists (they call the luciferites satanists, tsk tsk) and that it's not uncommon to find a mixed group in which case the police should try to address the Goth. Well, it says many things, and all of them are good (or at least not bad). One of them is that they tend to be more aware of their individual rights than common youngsters...
Down here nobody harrases us but preps and old lady of the "This didn't happen with Franco" style (which we treat with much more politeness and courtesy than their own grandsons, anyway). It's also true most other tribes fear us because of the black legend (we are all warlocks and witches, boooo) and it's very easy to be peaceful when left alone.
O loci, o mores

So the idea is, we look dangerous but we don't generally act dangerous. This makes it easy to pick on us because, not only are we unarmed, but those observing aren't likely to go beyond appearances, thus transmogrifying our attackers into heros.
"Yes, brave and noble Mr. Cop," say Mr. and Mrs. Jones. "Protect us from the scary-wary goths and keep our streets safe!"
