there are still poseurs, that being a completely seperate issue from gothness.
and yes there are still posers as well. there are oodles of people that spend thier whole lives trying to be things that they are not and failing in very humourous and painful-to-watch ways.
Think of all the people that try to keep up with the Jones' ( this means people that buy a better car, even if they cant afford one, just because thier neighbors bought a new car. they have to out do the people around them even if it means that they ruin thier financial lives). these people are quite clearly posers.
Think of me trying out for cheerleading. I was posing bigtime.
think of betty dressed as a secretary, trying to look like her piercings were just wrinkles in her clothes. both funny and sad right?
Now remember the REALLY fat, i mean scarily and life threateningly obese girls that wore "cute" pink dresses to prom.
Or how about our dear Dolorosa trying to pose as a "good" navy person? striped socks, i mean really...
Feral everytime you dress up in the most normal clothes that you have and try to pretend that you werent a wild youth, you are posing too!
posing doesnt jsut mean trying to be "goth", the phase was actualy more popular with with the preppies (back when there was a group that self identified as preppies and used labels on those not of thier status) who loved to call the slightly less well off kids that they knew posers. the more orgiginal connotation is one of jr. keeping up with the jones', rather than one keeping up with the Siouxsies'
anyhoo.....
yah i am that old.
