What shmeng? I don't see any hate in any of these responses. Except hate for the concept that you have to follow a list of music-listening rules to qualify as goth. But no one cares if you hate a concept. Concepts don't have feelings.
As for guidelines to gothness, I would say that we've made it pretty clear, here and elsewhere, that there are none. No emotional guidelines, (you don't have to be angry or depressed), fashion guidelines (you don't have to wear black, PVC, or anything from HotTopics), activity guidelines (no rules say you have to spend all your time in a graveyard, only come out at night, and write 13 suicide poems a day), and certainly no music guidelines.
If that doesn't answer your "other question" I don't know what will.

As far as I am concerned you don't have to dress any particular way or listen to any particular music to be who you are. If you are goth it will show in your attitude eventually, no matter how you look. It just happens that most goths as I have seen prefer to wear black as it is a more comfortable color. We don't fit into societies little slot any way. Being goth is like any other culture, there is no set standard of how you have to look or anything else, we are just on the darker side. If you listen to a lot of other music it still says a lot of the same things that the goth music does, it is just stated differently. Be true and honest to yourself.
